I just need to talk.

Hi,

I just need to talk because i'm so nervous.

First of all, i'm 26 and found out back on Aug 2012 I have PCOS & IR (IR= Insulin Resistant). I went from 500mg up to now taking 2000mg Metformin. I do not have diabetes, if anything my sugar level is normal I am a bit over weight and did lose about 30lbs and found out around April 20something i was pregnant. I couldn't believe it. I was so shocked and happy. I heard though not impossible, but it's harder to get pregnant with PCOS. This is my first time being pregnant. I found out I was about 4 weeks when I had my HCG levels checked and they doubled. Well around 5 weeks I was having some slight cramping and spotting (not enough to fill a pad, if anything only when i wiped) so I went to the ER thinking the worse, well cervix was closed and ER transvaginal scan showed my little bean. They told me I have a "threaten miscarriage" and that made me so depressed. I went on spotting on and off for another week and was brought in to the OBGYN for another early scan. They saw the baby and told me it was too early to tell how far along I was and had to go back a week later to see if the baby has grown. So still on and off spotting with slight cramps I went back. They found out I was 6weeks 6days and through a transvaginal scan (all 3 were, not ontop) there was a little one growing. We saw the heartbeat and all. The heartbeat was scanned 3 times at 133,129,133. I stopped spotting and was happy, then i started spotting when I was 8 weeks and went for my first N1 appointment. I was crushed again!! There was no cramping, just spotting when I wiped. Well around 9 weeks i had some weird white cottage cheese looking discharge and went back to the OBGYN and found out I had a yeast infection! I was wondering if that's what was causing my spotting all along because I haven't spotted for over a week since taking the cream medicine they gave me. If anything this thursday will mark 2 weeks spot free!!

Now, I'm feeling like a 10 week pregnant lady. I'm have the worst morning sickness, no throwing up - just the feeling, certain foods i can't stand, certain cravings i get, gassy, peeing a lot, pulling sensation in my lower right/middle abdominal from time to time, emotional and my least favorite - TIRED! I'm always tired. I nap so much and even going out for a few hours makes me so tired. I went back to the OBGYN for my N2 appointment and everything looks good. I only gained about 2 lbs, my blood pressure was good and my blood work was very good. They did a pelvic check and even the guy I saw was impressed I got pregnant with PCOS and Metformin only.

Soooo here comes my nervous issue. I have to wait until 13 weeks for my genetic scan. I'm nervous because I haven't seen my baby since 6weeks 6days. It's probably my fault, but i google a lot and i read that a lot of woman go for their scan and find out the baby stopped growing at certain weeks. I'm nervous that will happen to me. I also read woman m/c with their firsts, not all the time, but it's pretty high. Then i also read woman say it's good to see the heartbeat at 6-7weeks but as long as it's from the stomach and not the vagina. Well mine was, so there's a higher risk of m/c???

I know, I know - I need to stop googling. I'm just so nervous, I'm trying to relax, but at times it's hard not to think.

Any other ladies out there feeling the same at me or had a first time pregnancy be OK? I mean besides weight, i'm pretty healthy. My birth mother didn't have any m/c (as far as I know) and I was the first pregnant she had. I don't know my medical history because I'm adopted, but funny enough that isn't worrying me. I just want to see our baby and know everything is fine.

Thanks for listening to my crazy story.

I'm not quite sure about the whole miscarrying with your first thing. A lot of websites say that when you see the heartbeat (again, they didn't specify with transvaginal & a regular u/s) that your percentage for miscarriage drops considerably to about 1-2%. I'm pregnant for the first time as well, and I'm now 8 weeks & haven't seen my bub since I was 6+4. I know it's hard not to worry, but it's either a hit or miss as sad as it is to say . Personally, I think Google is the most EVIL thing created. You can google one symptom and suddenly you diagnose yourself with every Incurable disease ever . I know it's extremely difficult, but try not to worry! I'm sure your little bean is okay. As for the yeast infection, I'm not quite sure. I know UTI's will sometimes make you spot. But it's usually normal to spot in first tri. As long as you're not passing clots or have excruciating pain, then they say not to worry. Which is definitely hard!

I know google is so EVIL!!!! I don't mean to google, i'm just so nervous and it's like meh. I try to keep my mind on other things and then i'm googling before i know it My genetic testing is on June 10 so about 16 days to wait. I guess I will just try to stay as calm as i can, hopefully.

Thanks for the response, i just needed to say what was on my mind with others pregnant too.

I think you really need to stop googling!! Some of those things are crazy, why would seeing the hb on each scan be different once you have seen the hb your chances of mc are seriously reduced.
I had a healthy first pregnancy and no mc.

Don't google!! You are still having symptoms and you are kind of lucky you have had scans to show babies hb...

Also I bled for weeks with my second, it's not really something to worry about if it's just spotting it's pretty common.

I didn't have my first scan until 11+ weeks. 12 weeks is standard as up until then if you are going to miscarry there really isn't anything that can be done to stop it.

in an ideal world all us pg ladies would love a weekly scan right through, but can you imagine the cost to the health service and other people and treatments that would suffer.

enjoy being pg and take one day at a time, try not to worry about all these things that are beyond our control.

Just because you saw the heart beat transvaginally doesn't mean you are a higher risk. If it was there, then it would have been there abdominaly.

Please try to stay away from google. Xoxo
