Reoccurring genital herpes

When I was expecting my son (born oct 2011) I was diagnosed with primary outbreak of genital herpes as I was wondering if there was anyone such as nurses, midwives, Healy care people, mothers who have had this to help as I've tried looking on net but all it talks about is primary outbreak.

I've had several outbreaks since having him though nowhere near as bad. Well I can feel an outbreak starting up and I wot have a midwife for another five weeks, should I be concerned or am I ok as it's not my first outbreak

You wont be able to give birth vaginally is you have any sores. But my suggestion is to read this and maybe it will help. http://www.doctoryourself.com/herpes.html There's a story about pregnancy part way through. I came across this because of the vit C protocol I decided to do for my pregnancy for reasons that are talked about on that same page.

I never plan to do vaginal birth again it's awful haha. My son was section because it was a primary outbreak I just don't know if I need to contact contact midwives again or if its safe because I'm not having a vaginal birth and I'm only five weeks

It wouldn't hurt to call and ask what they think?

I have had two recurrent outbreaks this pregnancy so far and I am only ten weeks. Call the midwife if you wish to ease your mind but it should be absolutely fine. As you have already had the primary outbreak you have built up antibodies and your baby is protected by these. It is possible to have a vaginal birth if you change your mind, however I think they recommend suppressive therapy (acyclovir Etc) towards the end of your pregnancy. I did it anyway, despite UK doctors saying not to worry (US drs recommend it), as I definitely did not want to have a Caesarian if I could help it with my DS two years ago.
Hope your outbreaks are short and relative painless!
Ps- you can take lycine and that helps suppress and shorten outbreak times.

I've only had a primary outbreak and maybe 2 recurrences but this was several years ago. However I just had to take Acyclovir daily for the last half of my pregnancy last time (I believe starting around 28 weeks?) and I was able to have a vaginal delivery no problem.

As far as I know you don't need to give notice any earlier than your regularly scheduled first appointment but I don't know if it's different outside of the US. There's no risk to the baby unless you're in an outbreak during a vaginal delivery as far as I know.
