Hi there

Firstly congraulation on your BFP!

As for your shoulder blade pain, it could be anything - pulled muscle, sleeping postion, etc, but as it can also be a symptom of an ectopic pg it's best to check it out and call NHS direct, or go see your doctor asap.

Hope everything's ok. x

Best to get it checked out, but it could also be wind! If I've got really bad trapped wind I get a tummy ache and a pain in my shoulder blade, sometimes I get the pain in my shoulder blade before I know I've even got trapped wind, so try not to panic yourself just now, there could be a very simple explaination for it.

How are you feeling now?

Hi Laura not sure of ectopic symtoms but i dont want to scare you either but back in January this year i had the most uncomfortable pain in my left shoulder that slowly got worse the second day then moved to my left side of chest and rib cage that made my breathing more harder and painful, so went to doctors that evening and he said i had a jarred muscle and chest infection, but 3hrs later i got worse and had a gut feeling it was something worse so went to A&E they found i had a Pulmonary Enbolism ( clot to lung) and pneumonia... so please if it gets worse go see someone asap cos your more at risk whilst pregnant of this condition and now i am pregnant im on daily injections to thin my blood x

sorry im not posting to scare you but be aware if it gets worse thats all sweetie x

I get a pain just like what ur describing when i've got wind. Try moving your shoulder about,in circles and stuff, this helps dislodge trapped wind. Try some peppermint oil capsules too, I buy mine in superdrug, you take them when you eat and it helps you burp - not pleasent but totally necessary and it feels magic!

This is only advice for wind, if the pain gets worse or spreads or your worried - get help!
It's more than likely wind (the joys of pregnancy) but if you get more worried or it gets worse don't wait to get help!

lauralora, how are you getting on? Not heard from you since the advice and wanted to make sure that you are ok?

Let us know - hopefully you've had a big burp and you're ok ;o)

You might be trapping a nerve when you sit that certain way, I'm guessing you've only started getting this since you've been pregnant? Is there any chance you've had it before and perhaps not really given it a thought because you weren't looking out for twinges etc, I've done that loads - its my OH that reminds me I've always had whatever it is that I notice.

I think you're probably best to get it checked with your midwife, if for nothing else but your own peace of mind.

I hope its wind, or a trapped nerve. Please come back and let us know how you get on.
