Should I be worried?

I thought I posted this earlier, but can't find the post so trying again...

Went for blood work this morning, got results this afternoon - good news -definitely pregnant!!

However Doctor says my levels are low - only 69 - going for more blood work in 5 days to see if level is rising. not sure what to think - anyone gone through this? how concerned should I be? I have had no cramping or spotting.

It all really depends on when you conceived and when baby implanted. If you detected the pregnancy like REALLY REALLY early (as in before 4 weeks even) then it can be that low. How far along are you? What matters is what the level is at on the next hcg count. They want to see it at least double every 48 hrs. So if your number is like 140 give or take next time, then all is well. I'd be much more concerned if you were like 5 or 6 weeks and hcg that low or if your levels were only like 9 or 10. So if I were you, I wouldn't worry too much and wait and see what your next number is. Good luck and hoping all goes well for you!

I am about 4.5 weeks along - this was my first blood test. my doc said it really could go either way, she's seen people go on to have completely normal pregnancies starting off low- that it is if they start to increase that matters. i am hoping that's the case

This happened to me and when my doctor was reviewing the notes (a Nurse Practitioner was treating me at the time) the doctor was quite upset my bloods weren't taken every 48 hours as that gives a much better guide to growth early on. If i were you I would push for those tests every 48 hours... your little one is growing in leaps and bounds :-) it needs to be measured adequately and as closely as possible.

Nothing against NPs - I love mine and have gone to her since (I even work in medicine) but the doctor did feel strongly about the bloods being run every 48 hours at that 4.5 week point. He also added it saves the mother the stress of waiting those extra days!

Edited to add: As pp poster said - dont worry about initial low numbers! mine were! just so long as they increase appropriately youll be fine!

started spotting today as well.. light brown, and not a lot of it, most just tinting my CM, but nonetheless, I am now a bit worried this won't stick. I know my mother spotted with me and my siblings, and I've read other posts with the same thing, just worried since my level was low too. no cramping or anything else.
