Progesterone low...or is it okay?? Help!!!

When I was 4-5wks I had betas done, and my progesterone was almost 14.

Is this low? My old doctor said it was a decent number. My last preg ended in MC, and my progesterone was only like 10...so she said at this number, the pregnancy can sustain itself.

Reason I ask, my NEW (and awesome) doc moved my appt up to this Monday. And called in a prescription for prometrium, without even seeing me yet because they think 14 is pretty low. I switched docs because my old one just wasnt very proactive...Is my new doc just erring on the side of caution??

Should I worry? We saw baby and HB last Thursday.....everything measured good....I hope it is going to be OK and its not too late, and/or a progesterone of 13.7 is not too low!

I don't know much about it, but maybe this chart will be helpful. According to this, your levels are within the normal range, but on the lower end. Maybe your doctor is just being cautious.

You are completely right...different doctors have different opinions on what is good or not based on what they have seen. My Doctor thinks anything over 15 is fine. If you have a baby with a steady heartbeat at your stage, I don't think your progesterone level is going to make a difference as long as it doesn't go lower. It really matters more early on. The baby then takes over making the progesterone around 11-12wks and doesn't need your body to do it. Good luck to you!!! Sticky !!!

My level was 13.5 at around 4/5 weeks and they put me on prometrium too. My doc said they like to see the level over 11. I have to take the meds until 12 weeks. We've heard and have seen the heartbeat too.

Yea, I had to go in every week for a blood test to check my progesterone levels after starting the prometrium...
They put me on 200mg prometrium (I took 1 pill at bedtime). Because they were monitoring my levels every week since I began taking the prometrium, they saw a little drop in my progesterone and bumped me up to 2 pills at bedtime.
My pregnancy is going good so far.
At 8weeks1day the heartbeat was a strong 167bpm! And at 9wks, we went in for a check up and the dr. used the doppler on me and we got to hear the heart beat once again!

Thanks. Im just on 100mg once a day, so I think (hoping) it really is just a precaution since its not a super excessive or high dose. Fingers crossed and am praying all will be OK monday I am glad to hear it is going well for you, that helps me!
