Who conceived with irregular cycles?

Popping over from TTC, hope you don't mind!!

I came off the pill in September last year to allow my body to get ready for TTC and we've only last month actively started NTNP / TTC. When i came off the pill I got AF pretty quickly and it was fairly regular for a couple of months but then I missed a month completely. It then showed again and was regular for a while, but now i'm nearly 8 weeks since last AF If i've just missed it again then I should be due this fri. When I was due AF last month I was getting cramps the day before but nothing came!

I'm fairly sure i'm still ovulating because i've had positive OPK's, although these are a bit weird as well because I had a + on the day of my due AF and then again 2 weeks later! So confused!!

So my question is....did anyone conceive with irreugular cycles? I'm panicking that this isnt going to happen for me unless i'm getting AF?

I blame Implanon which I had for a couple of years

Hello

I had massive issues after coming off the depo (please avoid too)
I was due my 3rd shot in oct 12 (was only on 24wks which is 2 shots)
i got first af 4 months later in feb 13. i seen gp was sent for scan to check for pcos came back normal (i had lots of signs i may of it till very frustrating. )

I had blood tests for this that and other all came back normal. I was using ovulation sticks and appeared to be positives but thing with them is they still pick up LH Surge even if you dont ovulate, which was confirmed via blood test in aug/sep 13 i was not ovulating.

My cycles were short as 12 days and long as 64. We then went to ntnp, i tried to eat better, exercised more and mostly importantly relxed and had lots of fun (like nights out etc) my periods came 32 in nov then 24 in dec and 34 in jan, i never thought in feb that i may be going to ovulate nothing felr different (apart from getting load more of cm than normal).

looking back i thought maybe i did o between 14-17th feb so waited 2 weeks from 14th and massive shock bfp.

sorry for the long post but please dont give up hope. id deffo say if you can try to put it at back of your mind it will happen when you least expect it x

Thanks MummytoAmber, that puts my mind at rest! It's so frustrating, I want to be able to know which cycle day i'm on and when I O'd and when AF is due but i've got no idea!!

I think i'm going to follow your advice and just get on with it and see what happens, and focus on other things in the meantime. I'm still taking OPK's everyday as I want to make sure i'm not missing what I think is O but i'm not going to obsess about it. I just hate seeing months passing by and no BFP, even though we've only just started TTC!

My cycles after coming off the pill were 32-42 days but I conceived DD on the 3rd cycle which would have been a 38 day-er!

Hi I had stupidly irregular cycles! Came off the pull and for the year after I only had 2 periods and one lot of spotting. I tried OPKs one month and got lots of positives but only had spotting instead of AF.
When we did concieve I shouldn't have been anywhere near ovulation or AF, body just popped out an egg and we caught it! a few of my friend asked me how we could concieve in Jan when I hadn't had a period since August but it happened. I'm not sure if maybe my body took a year to sort itself out from the pill? I do know that what was different about the 'cycle' we conceived was I had spotting/EWCM which I never had so I'm guessing that was ovulation?
Good luck

its horrible, i hated it after all my years being regular even after pills/implant i found this very hard to cope with i totally feel your frustration plus i got pregnant very quick with my girls.
Every chance of you hitting on right time one month like i did everything is crossed for you

when your next cycle starts go see your doc and ask for your fsh checked normally done around cd21. x

I came off the pill Feb last year. I had completely irregular periods and really struggled to work out what was happening. I then get pregnant in September and again in December but miscarried both. I am now pregnant again and doing well so far my cycles were between 29 - 49 days. I used clear blue digital OPKs and just tried to make sure we did the dance at least every other night. So yes it can be frustrating, but is very possible, just need to watch your cycles carefully and know your body All the best of luck to you.

The only time I had regular cycles was during the many years I was on the pill--before and after it was a wild guess. Went off in Feb 2011 and have cycles from 5 weeks (thanks to acupuncture) to 14 weeks. Nerve wracking when TTC. Was actually at fertility clinic last month getting cleared to take provera to get a cycle started and be put on the pill in preparation for IVF treatments when the ultrasound and blood test came up baby. At that point all I had done was get lots of tests, see lots of empty uterus in Ultrasounds, and start taking Metformin for PCOS. Had tried Clomid in 2012 and it didn't get the follicles open near enough. An HSG showed one blocked tube. So yes, sometimes an egg will go where it needs to when it wants no matter what. I do greatly envy the women who can temp and chart but it's just not for me. A shame, too, because I love to organize things and I like numbers.

I have irregular cycles due to PCOS. My son was conceived after 9 months when I was having long irregular cycles, but when we were TTC #2 it took over 2 years and I needed 50mg of Clomid to regulate my cycles and ensure ovulation. Your body may still need some time to adjust, but if you are still having irregular cycles after that you may want to talk to your doctor.
