are u less lightly to misscarry after 12 weeks..?


i just wondered because i was told it reduce your chance of having a miscarriage alot..? is that true or false.. x x

yes, because then the mini-baby is made and it's mainly a matter of growing it has to do
and devellop the organs further. in first trimester it usually goes wrong bc of genetic problems,
or defects which would have made the baby not capable of living.

miscarriages still happen in 2nd and 3rd trimester but alot alot less than in first

I think at 12 weeks the placenta fully takes over providing for your baby (rather than nutrients coming from the yolk sac), so once that is fully in place then the risk is also reduced... I think..

That is how i have interpreted what i've read anyway but i could very easily be wrong.

Yes, you're a LOT less likely to miscarry after 12 weeks. The chance of loss after first tri drops to something like 1 or 2%. After you've seen a heartbeat of course xx

I have heard this too.... I have had 2 mc's and both at the 7 week stage... my babies were just not meant for this world....

yes , i was told that over 90% of mc's happen before 12 weeks, of course there is still a risk but a much much smaller one

I read that after 12 weeks there's only about a 1% chance of miscarriage

Just to clarify it's not a miscarriage after 24 weeks it's considered a stillbirth.
