Was your 1st Tri ultrasound date accurate?

I'm wondering how many days off (or spot on!) everyone's first trimester ultrasounds were, at dating their babies gestational age.

I know some techs go by LMP, and some go by conception age, but I'm curious how many mommies scans were close or way off what they thought themselves to be, weeks and days wise? Either by LMP or conception.

Mine was recently done and had me at 8 weeks, 5-6 days on Jan 19th... (Transvaginal) They did three measurements, two said 8 + 5 and one said 8+6 days.
My LMP was dec 2, 2015, so I couldn't be more than 8 weeks three days at that point... I think, lol! (Luteal phase is 11-13 days, and I have 25-27 day cyclesso conception could have been off from a regular cycle).

I'm guessing I fall into the catagory where it's off by a few days.
What were your dates and how close or off were you?

With my DS I had an ultrasound at what, according to my LMP, would have made me 8 weeks exactly, however he was measuring 5 days ahead. At his 18 week ultrasound he weighed approximately 9 ounces according to the ultrasound measurements (the average baby weighs about 6 ounces at 18 weeks) so he was still measuring a little further ahead. He came early, at 37w3d and was already almost 8 lbs! I didn't have an early ultrasound with my DD but at her 20 week scan she was estimated to be 14 ounces (9 ounces is the norm) and was born almost 9 lbs. at 2 days before her EDD. I don't know if the dates were correct but it was a good predictor that I was going to have big babies lol. This time I had a scan at when I should have been 6w5d and baby already measured 3 days ahead so I'm predicting another good sized one. I know exactly when I ovulated according to charting and opks and there is no way ovulation could have been off by as much as 3 days.

Were yours transvaginal or abdominal us? Makes me think ultrasounds early (4-9 weeks) maybe aren't as accurate as they lead us to believe!

Lmp isnt the exact date but it's what midwives use initially to date you as to organise your scan and initial care. With your lmp you could have ovulated later than the average day 14 that is given, especially if you have a longer cycle than 28 days. The sonographer tech will date you based on your measurements only which are more accurate as they coincide more or less with ovulation, give or take a few days depending on babies rate of growth.
I know exactly when I ovulated as I was temping and using opks. I also feel ovulation pains at ovulation.
I had 2 earlier private reassurance scans. Both measured exactly in line with my ovulation date and came out both times with a 26th of july due date, which I'd initially checked online when I got my bfp at 9dpo to see when my due date would be. However 3 weeks after my last private I had my nhs dating and nt scan. They measured baby lots of times in all different positions and decided to go with an average of 3 days ahead to my previous scan estimates so I'm now due 23rd July. I am still inclined to believe a 26th July due date, based on the knowledge of when I actually ovulated and knowing the growth of baby isn't an exact science and every baby will grow at different rates throughout pregnancy. And they'll come when good and ready

My first baby at the 12 week uss they dated me at 13 weeks when I was 12. So much so they had me Conceive the week before my period ever came!!?? At 20 week they said right on track so who knows . Baby was born 4 weeks early on induction as he stopped growing and was to be low birthweight. Came out at 3 weeks 5lb 11 so prob would have been normal weight if kept in till 40 weeks so who knows! And surely baby's grow at different rates they're not text book so I think it's all just guess work. My sister had 3pregnancy's and never went passed 35 weeks maybe her body just takes 35 weeks to cook a healthy baby! Xx

With my last pregnancy I went at what i thought was 7+2 (going by LMP) & they put me at 6+4. At my 12 week scan, I still measured on track with the first scan. Then the 20 week scan I measured a week ahead.

I went over by almost 2 weeks.

I charted, and I was exactly 6w5d at my first ultrasound. He measured me at 6w2 or 3d. Next time I went back at 8w5d, I was measuring right on point.
