Is it just me....

Is it just me who is on pins waiting for their first meeting with the midwife/getting a scan?!

Im suddenly SUPER nervous!! Im 6 weeks 4 days (by lmp) and getting a little impatient waiting to see baby on screen. I'm not necessarily worried anything is wrong as such... i cant quite explain it. That uncertainty I guess?!

Is a private reassurance scan actually worth it? With DD and DS i got put back from 11 weeks to 9 at my first scan.. so IF that happened to me id only be 4-5 weeks.. which i pressume may not even give me reassurance as may not see the hb etc?

I wasn't at first, but now at 5 weeks, I'm starting to think about prenatal screening and praying everything is ok in there. Feeling a bit hormonal but that's about it. I think it's only normal to be anxious to see that heartbeat! Just relax and enjoy every minute of this new life growing inside you!

I donít think itíd be worth having an early scan, I know itís such a long wait until 12 weeks for one, but I would rather pay for a gender scan than an early scan. My early scan (due to spotting) didnít give me much reassurance as only the yolk sac was visible at what I thought was 6 weeks (could be a few days behind), so it made me worry even more until a follow up scan!

So if youíre not having spotting or pain then Iíd try to wait it out! The last couple of weeks for me seemed to have suddenly flown by! The very early weeks dragged so much!!
I know what you mean though, felt like forever until my first midwife appointment too!

I think it's worth it, but if you were put back a couple of weeks with your others then I think you have to bear that in mind in case it does happen.
I had early scans with my three and found them reassuring

I always get so confused when women say they had to wait until 12 weeks... My very first appointment I pretty much demanded an ultrasound and they obliged. My next one 3 weeks later (in the 6th week) they gave one as well as just part of the appointment.

I have 2 actually scheduled for this week. One with my OBGYN and one for genetic testing and NT ultrasound. I guess I should consider myself lucky. Although to be honest all we could see on the 6w scan was two blobs in a bubble... Baby and yolk sac. It wasn't overly comforting.

I should also mention that mine is considered a geriatric pregnancy as I will be 35 by the time bubs has arrived.

Sounds like you're from the US? If so, that's why. It's different in the UK, we usually have to wait until 12 weeks for a scan unless there's a reason to have one sooner, or in the case of fertility treatment I think we may have them sooner then ...

If anyone refers to me as 'geriatric' I'm going to hit them

Unfortunately i think my nerves were a subconscious way of telling me something was wrong. I had a miscarriage yesterday confirmed by drs last night.
