HCG and Low Fetal heart rate

Hi Ladies,

I'm not sure if I'm looking for some comfort of words of wisdom at the time. I'm currently 5w4d pregnant with baby number one as of today. Although the little one wasn't planned, he is already loved beyond belief. I was at urgent care when I found out I was expecting(7/28). My HCG levels came back at 4056 which the dr said looked good. Two days later(7/30), my levels were only at 5176 and on 8/1, they were only at 6771. The OB at urgent care said a miscarriage was imminent since my levels weren't doubling. At this last appt on 8/1. They performed an U/S and found the baby's heartbeat. The Dr. was concerned that it was only in the high 90's. I've been having period like cramps since before I found out I was pregnant with brown discharge. I'm supposed to go back next week for another ultrasound to see if the heart stopped beating or if the little bean is doing better. Has anyone had any similar stories? It's so hard to sit here and wait for a possible miscarriage when my symptoms are getting stronger each day!

I am not sure about the hcg and lower hr, but I have had brown spotting with all my first three pregnancies and they turned out fine. Period like cramps are very, very common as well, uterus is stretching. Unless they're doubling over like you are probably okay.

Sending love. I'm sorry about the uncertainty. Could the baby's HR have been low because it had only just started beating.
Did they check your progesterone levels?
Hopefully they are scanning you again. Try rest as much as you can and stay positive x

Wow I’m shocked they found a heartbeat at only 5+4!! Very rarely have I ever heard of anyone seeing a heartbeat at this point. I’d say that is very encouraging. Don’t put too much stock in your hcg levels - and as someone mentioned spotting is very normal at this point. You can have implantation bleeding up until 7/8 weeks.

Honestly it sounds positive to me - mostly that they saw a heartbeat at 5+4, that’s incredible!

Agreed itís AMAZING to find a hb this early and so agree on it being early. The heart doesnít just become a superstar overnight. I was only a couple days ahead of you when my sonís hb was like 80-90ish. Just takes time. Are they rescanning you in a week? Keeping my fxed
