Sharp stabbing abdominal pain in early pregnancy ???

Hi ladies,

I've been sooooooooooo worried. I'm 5 weeks 1 day pregnant with our first baby. On Friday I was sitting at my desk at work when I suddenly got these sharp stabbing pains that started from my upper tummy all the way down to my pelvic area. They lasted about 5 minutes. I am soooooooo worried as I don't know what it could be. I googled but all I got was worst-case scenarios and I read about round ligament pain. Isn't it too early to be getting this??

Also, I had some cramps on Saturday night and now I feel fine again, just a few twinges. I am really concerned I've heard of placental abruption too...

I wanted to call the doctor but as it's weekend and I don't have a mobile number for him!!

I'm due for a scan on the 17th March. I went for beta count on 14dpo it was 193, 17dpo it was 835 and on 20dpo it was 2654. I am planning on going for another count tomorrow just to make sure that everything is ok.

Any similar stories, advice or anything would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanking you in advance,
Michelle

Is there not a walk in doctors surgery at your local hospital? If not then Im afraid you'll have to wait until tomorrow If you're really worried you could always go to A&E and ask if they would check you out?

I don't honestly really know what to say, this is my first aswell and Ive been a panicky mess since I found out on Wednesday. I've had sharp pains in my tummy, but they're more to do with constipation I think lol.

I'm sure it's fine tho hun

XxX

the first pregnancy is always a bit troubling because things are going on with your body that you have no idea. I would definitely make a point of talking to your doctor to ease your worries and get all the answers you need. Have you purchased any pregnancy books, like What to Expect? I found thos very helpful with my first pregnancy.

Weird jabs and little stabs of pain can go through out your pregnancy and can be just a sign of things strecthing. Again, I would just make an appt with your doc and get everything you are worried about cleared up!

Everything is going to be ok!

Constipation, bloating, stretching... it can be anything that causes those little pains to come out of no where. So long as the pain isn't severe, continuous or accompanied by bleeding try not to panic. Patience is a virtue we're all having to live up to when it comes to those freakin' appointments! I had similar pains when I was 5 weeks and at 7 weeks they still come and go.
