I had an early scan yesterday and was dated at 6+1 we could see a heartbeat really clearly, the sonographer pointed it out, then kept twsting the probe round and turning it as tho she was still looking for something... then she turned around and said "I have to tell you taht I cant rule out twins" she did some more twisting and turning then said "I think i can only see one but at such an early stage there could be another one hiding just behind"
Do you think she meant she thought she might have seen a second heartbeat or just that there COULD be, but she couldn't see anything?
Hmm, not sure. Did they give you a written report, I got one with my early scan? It sounds like they saw one definite heartbeat and maybe there was another sac whose heartbeat couldn't be seen yet??? You are still really early to have seen a heartbeat so maybe one hadn't started beating yet?
Sorry I'm no more help but good luck. Do you have to go back in a week or so to have it confirmed either way?
It's a bit crappy of them tbh because instead of being excited about seeing a heartbeat you are worried about what she said. She would have been better keeping her mouth shut if she couldn't tell you one way or another and you would have perhaps got a lovely surprise at your 12 weeks scan.
I know its hard but concentrate on the fact you have a healthy bubs in there and try not to get too hung up on the twins thing in case she was wrong and you get disappointed. Easier said than done though!!
Yes I'm trying not to worry about it! Tho at the same time while it would be amazing to have twins.. I really dont know how I would cope, already having 3 and being on my own in a 3 bedrrom house with 3 teeny room!
Well you never know it could be....It seem strange for her to say a comment like that. I had my 1st scan around 7 weeks, 1 baby was 7+5 and one was 7+4, so it could be that one is a day or 2 behind.....
Sounds like there must have been something there for her to say it could be twins, otherwise she never would have said something, so I would imagine that yes there is a chance you could be having twins. Shame she didn't actually explain herself better. All the best.
why do they do this to us! at 5 +5 i believe i hada scan due to some bleeding and the doctor quickly checked my belly and all he said was "oh look! two sacs" and then turned the machine off and left the room to get the needle i was to have. had another scan at 6+3 to check that LO was okay and they wouldnt even let me see the screen! at the doctors when i got the results all they said was there was a "little something" below my baby that could have caused the bleeding but everything was fine.
im assuming its not twins but i was wondering for a good couple of weeks after the dcotor saying "oh loook two sacs!"
