missing prenatal vitamins

There has been a few days here and there where I forgot to take my prenatal vitamins (including folic acid). Do you think it's going to cause any problem?

The most I forgot is 2 days in a row, but still, I'm starting to get worried. I should actually be about 7 weeks now.

Try keeping them near your toothbrush, that way you'll remember to take them when you brush your teeth each morning!

I don't think it would do any harm if you missed them a couple days. Before I knew I was pregnant I wasn't taking folic acid at all, I was also on Doxycycline (malaria tablets) for over 2 weeks while I was in Kenya for my honeymoon. I didn't start taking it till I found out I was pregnant which was when I was about 5 weeks.

The way I go about remembering to take them is to have them with my breakfast every morning. I leave them on the coffee table so when im eating breakfast they are right in front of me. Its sort of a routine for me now lol.

I don't think you have to worry about there being anything wrong. My friend didn't know she was pregnant until she was 4 months (still having periods, lost almost 25 lbs) and she didn't taking suppliments until she found out- her son is one of the smartest boys I know- healthy too.
But I'm sure taking them is good! But I don't think you've done damage so far.

I'm the same Hun, I've been so sick the last 3 weeks that sometimes I go to bed and forget (I have to take them before bed as they make me feel along with everything else lol!). I have missed a few here and there, I'm trying not to feel too guilty about it though - we're only human after all xx

I just wanted to add that not taking fa is dangerous for your child and you should always take it if you are having unprotected sex. Sometimes these things happen, but you never know. I didn't plan my first child, and he will forever be blighted by spina bifida and a long list of conditions.

I appreciate that you were in no way condoning not taking it, but I wanted to make sure no one felt " well my friend never took it and her kids turned out ok".

Sorry if I caused offence, I am bad with words. I didn't mean to. The only reason I say it is because my first pregnancy happened whilst I was on holiday unsuspecting and I started my tablets at 5 weeks.

As for missing a few pills, try not to worry, if you have been taking them regularly then it should be fine.

No, don't worry, you didn't cause offence at all and I understand and appreciate that. You made a very good point and I actually worry myself every single day that something could be wrong in the end due to not taking them at the start. I am not for a second saying "oh its ok not to take them", I would never say that. Im just trying to be positive about things.
