heartburn and burping

This is the first time I've had heartburn and burping in pregnancy...especially this early...I don't know what it means, but its really uncomfortable. Anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it? Or make it any better?

Oh gosh I've been getting heartburn real bad the past couple months. I can't eat too much food or anything spicy or greasy as I start belching like a truck driver. I've been keeping a couple Tums in my purse for when it acts up. They're perfectly safe during pregnancy, plus they have calcium in them so that's an added bonus. And as nasty as the burping can be, it helps take some of the extra air out of my stomach most of the time and that too decreases the heartburn. Sorry I couldn't be more help but I hope you feel better

[Edit]: A glass of milk also helps with heartburn! But it's only a temporary fix. Tums are gold in tablet form though.

I went to the chemist yesterday with the same problem, and he said to take gaviscon. I've started, and it seems to be working so far. I take it as soon as I feel heartburn coming on, and it seems to nip it in the bud!

I've not had much heartburn but burping yes - horrible nasty ones that make you feel like you are going to be sick at the end of them absolutely disgusting and no matter what I do I can't seem to get rid of them

Hiya I have had heartburn with my last two pregnancies and now also this one!

Lots of milk does help although I spent a fortune on it last time as it was all I ever seemed to drink lol!

Rennie tablets are good I used them too!

But the best thing I used is called Malox and u need it prescribed from ur midwife. I got it when I was about 20 weeks last time. It dosen't taste the best as it's quite 'chalky' but it diid the trick for me both times and I'm going to ask for it at my next app.

good luck

x

thanks, they have malox in the stores here, but you don't need a script, I may try that as well. So far today I found that, saltine crackers, tums, and chewing gum has helped me out. I'm so glad its gone now. I'm going to purchase some malox and keep it around just in case.

Thank god someone else has mentioned this!!!

I've been told by my GP that i have an acid reflux anyway (started in April), but since i've been pregnant - found out June 30th, i've really been suffering with it. I can't stop belching even when I drink water, i've got permanent discomfort in my upper abdo - just in the region between my ribcage where my solur plexus is. It's horrible! No heartburn though really. My GP has tried me on every medication under the sun - omeprazole, ranitidine, peptac, gaviscon, drinking milk, chamomile/peppermint tea... nothing is doing the job. Tried tums as well.

I have an appointment with a private gastroenterology consultant next Wednesday so hopefully he can give me some good advice that will resolve this nasty horrible problem i'm having

Im only 22 as well lol.
