Small gestational sac - terrified

I know I am 5 weeks 6 days pegnant. I went for an early scan yesterday and sac only measured 6mm which lady said was too small to see anythign inside and come back in 10 days. This size sac is typical of 4-5 week pregnancy. How can I have had a pos test 2 weeks ago and still only b 4-5 weeks pg?
I am now terrified i have a blighted ovum and will miscarry.
The dr looked and said he could see placenta forming and no obvious bleed around sac and we have to just wait and see.
HOW CAN I WAIT! I have had 2 lots of HCG done and they doubled in 48 hrs which I think is good.
Any re-assurance would be great.

Try not to worry I know easier said than done! But from what you have said HCG doubling, placenta forming it sounds great to me...even though we think we know when we conceived it could be that you ovulated later than what you thought.....

It all sounds really positive to me

I a afraid there is nothing they can do for at least 10 days and should sctually be 2 weeks to get the best result next time!

I had this and within the 2 week wait, the result on the next scan was amazing!

Be patient, i know it's hard, but there really is nothing they can do and all you can do is relax!

This can be normal with nothing to worry about and nothing can be accurate until a little later in pregnancy when sac yolk hb is there!

I have a scan Thursday at 5 weeks (ish) & I know I could walk away seeing nothing and have to come back.

When pregnanct with Caitlin I had bleeds/spotting & I have an ectopic in my history that hosital wouldn't even touch me/scan me until 7 weeks because they said before that increases the risk of seeing 'nothing' at all.

The fact your hCG is doubling is perfect - try to keep your chin up

Hi ya

when i went to the docs and asked a stupid amount of questions he said it is possible to get a positive test at only 3 weeks pregnant, this was when we were trying to work out my dates etc and i said i havent had a period from my miscarraige in may and that was his answer so it is possible to get a positive test really really early so you may only be 4-5 weeks i had to do this when i went for my 1st scan. its terrifying i know but if the sac is there and there is a placenta forming thats brill news and in 2 weeks the transformation is amazing! in only 2 weeks you will have a heartbeat and a baby there, i have had 2 blighted ovums in the past and its horrible to find that out but stay positive and the 2 weeks will be here soon and you will see your LO in there xxx

it will be fine!! i normally am like clockwork with my cycle, but just once i ovd late. i went for a scan when i thought i was 6weeks but turned out to be only4-5. and i only had a ges sac and yolk sac, went back 10days later, and there he/she was!!! my sonographer said the problem these days is that our technology is too far advanced for our own good! we wouldnt have known we are pregnant for a lot longer than some of us do, so when we go for scans and baby is still the size of a pin head, we get worried and cause ourselfs unessesary stress! please try not to worry, i will keep fingers crossed for you, as will everyone on here!! xx

Thank you all. I don't think I;ve explained that this is my 7th pregnancy and I only have 2 healthy children! That is probably why I am a complete paranoid lunatic.
I have become that distressed the hospital is going to scan me again on Tuesday (8 days after last scan) to try and pick up fetal echoes.
I have had some bleeding (brown loss) but I have been told I have a cervical erosion too.
I think I will be insane before Tuesday!!!

some women are very lucky and get early result, the placenta is forming and your HCG levels are on the up. Try and stay positive

I went today I'm between 4-5 weeks and sac measured 3mm - perfectly normal although they tend not to expect viewing anything at all.

I understand your worry though
