Just found out I'm pregnant - roller coasters?

Hi everyone! I got my today so I obviously have not been to the doctor yet. I was wondering if it is safe to ride roller coasters? I do not want to do ANYTHING that would harm my baby, but since it's so early would it really do damage? I'm going to Universal Studios on Sunday and need to know if I should just avoid the rides...

I would definitely avoid roller coasters because the movement can simulate a fall, which can cause MC. You could always give your Dr a call and ask. They should be able to get you an answer by the end of the day if you call in the morning.

I know you're not supposed to ride them because it can cause the baby to detach from the placenta or something like that (I think- could be mistaken but I'm 99% sure I read that somewhere).

But, if you just found out you're preg, baby might not be attached yet? I'm really not sure. I would avoid it though, or call your doc just to be on the safe side.

Use your mommy brain not your adrenaline seeking brain!!

^^ This is the advice a friend of mine was given by her mom when she wanted to go to a haunted house.

Please dont ride rollercoasters while pregnant. Youre not even alllowed to really horseback ride!

It's been 15 years since I've been to an amusement park, but don't the rides have signs advising not to ride them if you're pregnant? Don't do it.

Roller coasters aren't recommended because the placenta can tear away. With that being said.....you are so early that there isn't a placenta yet. Your baby is very well insulated at this point. I went to Six Flags when I was 5+5 and went on 1 roller coaster and all is well almost 2 weeks later. Ultimately it's up to you though. 1st trimester is a time of miscarriages (most of which are due to genetics and not forming properly)....but you don't want to play the "what if" game.....do what you are comfortable with.

I think you should avoid the rides as well. As someone else said I believe most (if not all) rides now have signs posted saying not to ride if you are pregnant

The mention of adrenaline reminded me of another good reason not to do it. The adrenaline rush you get triggers the fight or flight response in your body, which sends extra blood to your arms and legs, and takes blood away from your organs, including your uterus. This can hurt the baby.

I'd probably steer clear of the roller coaster. Just incase. I think I remember seeing signs for pregnant girls to stay off. Ya never know right?
