Little Disappointed

Finally had my booking in appointment with midwife this morning and was looking forward to hearing babys heartbeat and/or having my scan date.

All it was, was filling in forms,I feel so deflated. I have to wait for my scan date to come through the post and don't know how long it will take. Not even babys heartbeat to put my worries at rest...not offered at all.

All I can think is what if somethings wrong I wont know until the scan, just cant help but feel disappointed by the whole thing. Had my first bloods done today at 13 weeks...is anyone else having problems like this? the waiting and thinking there should be a bit more support first time mum or not

You don't normally have any of that stuff done at a booking in appointment hun, it's all paper filling. It's hard to get a reading on a doppler before 16 weeks in a short appointment time. Loads of girls on here have heard the heartbeat earlier as they have an hour or so to spend looking for it. If she had a quick look and couldn't find it you would have felt much worse, so that's why they tend not to even try and find it this early.

You should get you scan date through pretty quickly and then your mind will be set at ease when you see your little baby wiggling all ove the screen.

Thanks, its all so different compared to when I had my daughter, I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed until I get my scan. Thank you for putting my mind at ease.

aw Hopefully you will get your scan date very soon and that will put your mind at rest. Your booking appointment was quite late wasn't it? I had mine at 9 weeks and my scan at nearly 13.

I was driven nuts worrying - I had no symptoms and I kind of thought the midwife would at least do something that would confirm I was even pregnant! But mine was just 2 hours of form filling too.

As Noodles said, it does take ages and ages to find the heartbeat that early and they don't tend to look for it so that you don't get worried. You'll hopefully get another appointment at 16 weeks and they will listen then.

xxxxxx

Hey hun don't worry I am sure all is well. I only had my first scan and set of blood work at 13 weeks and 4 days. But everything was perfect! Happy super moving baby! It is killer to wait for so long. I ended up taking 2 extra pregnancy tests at one point because i was so worried lol. I never had a lot of preggy smptoms in the first tri so it made it super hard to not know what was going on. I only got to hear the babies heartbeat yesterday and i am 14 weeks 2 days Just keep thinking poitive! Your little cupcake is happy and baking away!

Thanks girls that makes me feel a whole lot better, I think I'm going to be on worry overdrive until I finally have my scan. I had to keep trying to phone my midwife until I got my booking in appointment, she was on holiday last week and finally got hold of her this week and she thought she'd already told me she was coming today (so glad I phoned or I might have still been in bed)
