Morning Sickness - Bad. Aches and Headache - Unbearable

I almost want to say that I can't do this. I am literally in pain. My head is pounding even though I broke down and took a paracetomal (sp?) about four am. And my body aches like it has been hit by a mac druck. Its so bad that I wondered if I have the flu ... but my temp is just marginally raised.

Then I am throwing up ever time I start to feel better and it makes my haed and body ache more. I have deadlines today, things I have to take care of and sleep or warm aren't havn't any effect.

Warm ginger isn't bad (the biscuits made me gag), yougart is friendly ... but its primarly the pain that is intoleratable.

Idea?

You can take paracetamol. Don't overdose it but I think two every four hours are ok (please check!!!). I'm not normally one for painkillers in pregnancy but apparently the occasional paracetamol is completely ok.
If you can at all manage I would go and see your doc though.
For the sickness: Try eating small salty snacks (like pretzels), ginger ale, hot water with fresh ginger and lemon. Even smelling fresh ginger can help. Hope you feel better soon!

I was like this the other day, my heart goes out to you x
I kept drinking water, thinking the headache was caused by dehydration, but it just kept making me throw up, which made me feel worse. I started drinking flat lemonade and managed to eat a few boiled potatoes, I gradually got better, but only after a lot of sleep. It really is horrible and I feel your pain, hope you get better soon x

Definitely agree - dehydration makes you feel awful - lots of fluids if you can manage them and flat lemonade is great as it has some sugar!

Hope you feel better soon

aw yeah, like the others said, don't deprive yourself of paracetamol at the recommended doses as docs say it's safe in pregnancy, unlike pretty much anything else. When you're feeling this bad it's important to look after yourself too, especially when it won't harm bubs anyway. Also the dehydration is going to make the aches and headache worse especially if you have a bit of a temperature so any fluids you can keep down are going to help. hope you feel better soon, sounds really miserable xxx

Thank you ladies for your comments and hugs.

It seems I actually do have the flu as well as morning sickness. Headache aside, the aching and now running nose would have nothing to do with it ... and temp has been spiking.

What the doctor confirmed is that paracetomol x 2 every four to six hours. I need to get the temp down. Food is out of the question.

What a stroke of luck. The doctor also explained that we are much more suspectble to flu and it can be more agressive, which is why they recommend a flu shot (a bit late in my case, but you guys may want to think about it).

I may moan more in this thread later, but right now I wish I wasn't going through this single and had someone to get me crackers and ginger ale. I would kill for them

Day 4 of this and I really wished I had known Paracetomol was ok as I think the temp is finally breaking. But after talking to my GP yesterday, it occured to me that my temp was already hoving around 38, I was under blankets and sweating like made and had wash clothes strategically placed in hot spots.

Reading about the flu and pregnancy - it sounds like I could cause deformaties or even miscarriage for my high body temp. It scares the shit out of me (parden the language). I have a midwife appointment next Friday ... but now I am so worried.

And I have not really eaten since Wednesday.

I hope this is ok.

I wouldn't worry about the not eating from the baby's point of view as it will get the nutrients it needs from your reserves anyway. The temperature thing I should think is one of those scare story type things to be honest, lots of people get viruses when pregnant and your temp doesn't sound like it was mega high so I can't imagine it would have done any harm x x Sounds like you just need to look after yourself as much as you can for your own welfare Have you got anyone you can call to maybe fix you something to eat that you can face...? Don't suppose you live in norfolk...??? xxx
