6 weeks pregnant - TWINS?!

Hi All

This is my first post.

I am 6 weeks pregnant (due 11th September!). I feel massive for 6 weeks, went to the doctors today (have the nasty virus going round) and she felt my tummy and thinks it's twins. Gulp.

Has anyone else felt huge at 6 weeks and then gone on to find it's only one??

Thanks

Hiya and welcome to b&b!!!

It could well be twins or could you be further along than you think? If it's your 2nd (or more) baby you tend to show alot sooner. I know I am but I definately only have 1 in there. Only way to know is by a scan. Do let us know the outcome.

Congrats!

xxx

I have convinced myself I'm having twins. I'm somewhere between 6 and 6 and a half weeks, my bfps have all been really dark, plus when I did a digi it said 3+ when I'm sure I was only 1-2 weeks past OV. Plus my stomach is enormous! I'm normally a size ten with a very flat stomach, yesterday I struggled to get a size 12 pair of jeans on and my stomach is quite hard and rounded?! What's going on? How dis the nurse tell from feeling your tummy?

The same thing happened to me - I'm pregnant with my first baby and was enormous very early. My midwife said she thought perhaps twins but it turned out to be just the one baby!

Hi,

Thanks for all the responses. I'm definitely only 6 weeks as we used an ovulation test in order to help us conceive.

There are multiple births all over the family - I am a triplet myself. My gut instinct from the start was that I would have twins.

The nurse I saw today was previously in the maternity field. She felt my belly and particularly my uterus and she seems to thinks twins are likely.

It's all very nerve wracking. Just got my head around the idea of having one and now might need to prepare for two!

Im not sure you would really be able to feel it was twins at 6 weeks?? Could be completely wrong though!
The only way to find out for certain would be for a scan. Prehaps you could get reffered for an early scan to find out!
I have been very bloated this time and am unable to do my trousers up completely now but this is my second and they do say second time you can show much quicker??

Good luck and congrats on your bfp xxx
