PLEASE HELP! Food won't stay down!

Hi all, 8 weeks pregnant. Having a terrible time eating. Have a constant feeling all day that my food is in my throat and just won't stay down in my stomach. Not real heartburn, I can just feel the food sitting there and then the thought of it makes me sick and I've had to vomit a few times just to get it out! Tried Tums, but doesn't work at all. Anyone else having this problem? It's like I have a 24/7 vomit burp sitting there. It's so gross!!! Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated!!!

There is a thread that just started about morning sickness remedies. Also might try asking OB for some phenegren or something similar.

from 6+1 til about 11 weeks i had this.. the only thing i found to help was smaller meals and only eating what i REALLY truley wanted. Sometime the sensatin was worse then other and i dare not eat when it was bad cause i would just get sick. Its a miserable feeling. Hope it doesn't last to long for you.

This is exactly my type of morning sickness!!! It's like I need to burp but my food is right behind it and I swallow ir back down or I'll be sick. Horrid. I found sone foubds make it worse, pasta in particular. Must be a slow digestion thing? If I lie down it reLly helps but if like me you're at work, you can't do that after every meal!

Hotish baths help too. How's your blood pressure? Mine is low and midwife said thus accounts for my sickness as my digestive system is on a super go slow on top of the hormones slowing things down. Just a thought.

Really hope you find sine relief soon. The sickness should peak and ease off from 9 weeks. You're coping really well! I'm sure your doc would be sympathetic too? Xxx

LadyHutch-it's not morning sickness, I'm not nauseous until I think about how gross it is. I've read that the progesterone your body creates during pregnancy relaxes the smooth muscles, and since you esophagus is a smooth muscle, it relaxes, allowing the food to come up instead of stay down. I was just hoping someone had had this same problem and maybe had gotten some meds from their doc that really worked. No heartburn meds work, b/c it's not heartburn I'm dealing with.
Babbs-I hope you're right and this eases up in a couple of weeks. If anyone else has any thoughts, please share!!! I'm desperate!

You're absolutely right about the smooth muscle relaxing which makes it easier for food to 'sit there'. I agree it's very uncomfortable. There's plenty of meds your GP can try, maybe something like some metoclopramide would help to facilitate gastric emptying. Don't suffer in silence if you feel really lousy. Hope you feel better soon!

I think it exacerbates the whole hormone activity. My bp is usually low but when the midwife took it at week 10 she said this explains my intense sickness but didn't really elaborate!! I assumed it would mean my body is on an all round 'go slow'? I shall have to google it and see! Xxxx
