Sonoline B Doppler

Hello Ladies and Gents

So I received my doppler in the post yesterday. I chose the Sonoline B because I thought there would be no mistaking my baby's heartbeat with it as it has the LCD screen etc. Well.............My husband and I were using it last night and I eventually found a heartbeat reading of 135 which I thought was too high to be mine and too low for my baby's and of course like us ladies do I ended up getting myself in a state ans worrying so I went to bed at 9:30pm to try and de-stress! I also emailed my Bump Buddy Kath a few times (Sorry Kath ). I am sure you are not suprised by this post !!

I am 10 weeks and 1 day and so I thought I would hear something by now. Do you have any tips on what area to try the most.

Do many of you have the Sonoline B and if so what reading did you get at 10 weeks?

Thanks in advance

Hey hun,

Funnily enough my Sonoline B arrived yesterday too and boy was I excited to try it out

Managed to get a few readings... but then found babies HB varying from 160-180. I'm having twins and only managed to find one in the afternoon but then went back in the evening and found the second baby's hb which was about 4cm away from the other one.

Tips for finding HB:

Check low down - along the top of the hairline. One of mine is right in the middle and the other is off to the right. I find if you turn up the machine to full volume and you move wand really slowly over the area you can hear v faint whooshing sounds - then you need to hone in on that and change direction of the wand to get a focus on the HB. I also got ultrasound gel with mine and find the more liberal you use it, the better sound you get.

Good luck and I hope you pick up HB soon x

Hi hun, I have the sonoline B and absolutely love it, but I didnt start using mine until 16 weeks as I didnt want to panic myself. 135 sounds fine to me hun, I was told anything over 120 is good. My wee man ranges from 132 - 158! Just remember 10 weeks is still very early to be picking up a heatbeat as baby is tiny and behind your pubic bone. Midwives generally wont try until at least 12 weeks. Just make sure you use lots of gel and try very low down xx

Aww thanks Cupcake and Zippy 4

Cupcake - when you say 'move the wand over at first' do you mean as you are pressing or just over the skin level? And change direction of the probe - again, do you mean whilst pressing but point the probe left right up down etc?

and I should try on the hair line?

Surely it wasn't my heartbeat at 135 was it ? I will have another go tonight

xxxx

I also have the sonoline b, I got mine at 9+6 & picked up the HB the same day (took absolutely ages to find tho!)

It was really low down, underneath my pubic bone then, I had to press quite firmly too.

Other ladies haven't found the HB until 12 weeks or more, so don't panic too much if you don't find it this early.

Ignore the LCD readout for now, it can be a bit hit and miss until it's really clear. You will know babys HB as soon as you find it, as it sounds so different to your own. Mine sounded like a little chugging train & when I timed it on a watch, it was about 160 bpm at 10w.

xxx

Hey - I mean pressing down into your abdomen at the same time - you have to push it firmly down...

Just tried again and my bladders empty and totally notice the difference - could pick up baby one but very faint so I couldn't get the HB reading - couldn't find baby two this time but think I'll try this evening with full bloat and a full bladder

Only do it firmly - not so you're gonna hurt yourself. I had an abdominal scan at 9 weeks and found that bloody painful - felt bruised afterwards.

Oh and good news - just tried again with a really full bladder and heard both babies this time loud as brass - they're a teeny bit higher than they were yesterday but i put that down to my bladder pushing them up.

Give it a go tonight when you're desperate for a wee!
