Hello! I posted here about a month ago that I'd had positive urine hpt but negative urine and blood at the doctor, so he thought I'd read the test wrong. The doctor's visit was Jan 19th, 19 days after unprotected intercourse (Jan 1). I have continued to test every 2-3 days since, using FRER and the tests at the doctors office I work at (sensitivity of 25). All stark white negative.
Today my period is 1 1/2 weeks late, making it my second missed period, FRER negative, and I have been lightheaded for a few days with sore nipples. Anyone know the chances that I may actually be pregnant? This is very strange! I plan to make another doctor's appointment for next week but just wanted to see if anyone else has heard of or experienced this.
If this is your 2nd missed period then you really need to find out what is going on. Because you did have a positive at one point a dr. really needs to assess whether you are actually pregnant regardless of what the office tests were. It does seem really strange that you haven't had any other positives but then where the heck has your period been? You definitely need to be examined more thorougly than just a blood/urine test. Make an appt. for an exam and I hope everything works out for you. Good luck
I hate to say it, but it's very very unlikely that you wouldn't get ++ tests if you were actually pregnant.
My concern is in your second missed period - it's possible that you had an MMC (missed miscarriage) where you had enough HcG for that one ++ test, then the embryo was not viable and it's there, never miscarried, with not enough hormone for the home test, but enough progesterone (which is not what the tests look for) to keep your period away. That's a worst-case scenario, but a really good reason to get checked out. . .
Please see a doctor - if it's not normal for you to miss periods, you should really get checked out by the OB. I really really hope I'm wrong and that you are pregnant! But I think by now you'd be roughly 8-9 weeks, you'd have super super strong test lines and more than likely, morning sickness since the hormones tend to peak in weeks 8-9. If you are pregnant, I'll bet it's time to get started on the prenatal care anyways
I would say for sure make an appt with your dr again. When my mom was pregnant with me all the dr's tests kept coming up negative but she had morning sickness bad and had 2 babies before me so she knew she was pregnant. She didn't find out from the dr till she was 7 months that she was actually indeed pregnant. The dr's tests are not always right so get them to try again
Thanks for the responses everyone. I've made an appointment for Friday afternoon. I don't have an OBGYN, I am employed by my university and have to go to the doctor at the campus health clinic first to get a referral. That's what I did back in January, but since their tests were negative they didn't give me the referral.
I didn't even think too much of missing this second period until last Friday/Saturday when I started feeling dizzy/nauseated. I've called all the urgent care, health department, and planned parenthood centers in the area, but they all either just do urine tests or have to send off their blood tests, so I wouldn't get results any faster than at the campus health clinic. I actually scoured the internet and saw reports from many women that they didn't get a positive urine until 3-4 months into their pregnancy!
I'll update with whatever I find out! Thanks again for the responses!
