Pregnant even after taking morning after pill.. Will this effect the baby?
Just found out I'm pregnant even though I took the morning after pill 20 hours after the unprotected sex. My boyfriend and I have decided to keep the baby and now I am really scared the pill could damage the baby or increase my risk if miscarriage. Any advice or opinions please?
As far as Im aware, the morning after pill does not have any affect on a pregnancy that is already in progress so I would say you should not worry. The only time the pill works is if it get to the egg before its actually met by a little swimmer and stuck
I took the morning after pill 30 hours after sex and it didn't work, when i got my BFP i text my midwife from last year and asked her if there was any reason to be worried about it and she text quote "no need to worry it happens ALOT. congrats."
Exactly the same thing happened to my sister a few years ago and she had a very healthy little boy....so it had no effect on her pregnancy. Probably best to mention it to your doctor though just to put your mind at rest.
As far as I am aware the morning after pill affects the release of the egg and its implantation.... So it wouldnt harm a pregnancy that was already going to happen. Make an appointment with your GP and they can confirm all is well. Happy and Healthy 9 months xx
