Hiya I'm 13+2 and have a horrible cold which paracetamol isn't doing anything for! I'm eating lots of fruit and drinking water, anyone got any other suggestions to speed up recovery?xx

Me too!! I just wish I could have a Lemsip

At the mo I'm inhaling Olbas Oil in boiling water, drinking lots of orange juice and smothered in Vicks.

The window's open wide which helps as well and I've read on a packet of Lockets that they are ok to take, but not Halls or Strepsils.

I also made up some warm salt water earlier and irrigated my nostrils which really helped.

Hope you feel better soon x

You have my sympathy, I have exactly the same at 11+6. I've tried to avoid taking even paracetamol but I'm really suffering.

Don't have any suggestions as I asked the same thing a couple of days ago and the answer was a resounding "All you can take is paracetamol!", I just wanted to sympathise and hope you feel better soon x x

Mine came to a head last night when I started coughing when brushing my teeth and was slightly sick

Things that are definitely working even though it's still at the 'it has to get worse before it can get better' stage:

Steamy showers/baths
Inhaling steam with Vicks/Olbas Oil in
Nasal rinses with lovely warn salt water
Putting an extra pillow underneath my normal two at night to prop my head and back up- the last thing you want is to develop an ear infection from not allowing sinuses to drain

I've also just read that there are antibacterial properties to onion juice so may heat some up with something, and also aniseed tea helps which I have sitting in the kitchen so these are what I'll be testing today.

Does anyone have any relief for the temperature and thumping sinus pressure?? By the time mine has calmed down from night time it's almost time for bed again
