Would you travel by air 7 and 9 weeks pregnant?!

Hello lovely bumps

I have just found out I am pregnant following ICSI treatment. I am due to be going on conference in Cannes (from the UK) in my 7th week. The conference is pretty full on, early morning flight, work for 3 days etc etc. I don't want to tell my boss about my pregnancy but not sure how I can get out of it?! My Gp said that was a slight increase chance of miscarriage but said it was negligable. My husband does not want me to go.. but not sure how to manage work. After that, I am due to go to Lisbon with work too... not sure what to do?

What do you ladies think xx

congrats on the pregnancy hon!

i asked my doctor about flying as I'm due to fly to jersey next week (for hols) and will be 6 weeks gone. He said that there was no increased risk in flying. I travel a lot for work (also at conferences!) and loads of my colleagues have done conferences before their 12 week scans with no problems.

its a tricky one though - only you can decide. also if you're going to be running around doing conference work all day it is tiring. i did one in london last week and it knackered me out, was so glad to finish it up.

To be absolutely honest if I was you I'd probably try and get out of it - not because of the flying but because of the hectic days, but its hard if you dont want to tell your boss.

i'm sure you will be absolutely fine though.

arghhh why is early pregnancy sooo worrying! lots and lots of luck XX

I was advised there is no risks at all with flying.

If you are feeling good then go for it. If you are having horrendous sickness all day long then it will be tough.

I am just back from holiday -it was only a 3hr flight - but no problems. Biggest problem was trying to catch my 15month old daughter as she was running up/down the aisle!

I certainly wouldnt put a holiday off when pregnant but maybe it would be a good excuse to get out of a work trip!!

Hi,
I can't see any reason not to fly at any gestation as long as you're otherwise well, long haul flights I would recommend the flight socks and getting up for a wander every hour and drinking lots and lots of water. I flew long haul when I was 29wks

Yep I'd fly and in fact I will be. We go on holiday on Easter Sunday for a week - it's a 4ish hour flight to Lanzarote and I'll be 7+2 weeks when we go and 8+2 when we fly home.

It's not a long flight so I would go

I'd be more worried if I was flying in third tri to somewhere over 12 hours in duration x

I'm flying to Boston for my 30th birthday and I'll be 15 wks. So glad to hear that others have done so safely. My friend is planning on flying in her 8th month though! That sounds crazy to me!

Hi, I flew from manchester to Southampton and back (UK same as you) at 4 weeks then the same journey twice in a week at 7 weeks and from 5 to 7 weeks I flew to the Maldives via Dubai. I did make sure with that one that I wore my surgical stockings to prevent DVT.

I am now almost 10 weeks and baby is doing great, I've had 2 brilliant scan (last pregnancy was a molar pregnancy so I am special care this time!) I even found its hearbeat this week on a doppler- amazing!

I vote fly, you will be fine. Good luck and massive congrats on being pregnant- how exciting xxx
