Brown Discharge-- 3 days

Ladies, I've had some brown discharge when I wipe...total of 3 times now. The first day was very slight. It didn't come back the next day, but it did the following day (which was yesterday) and again this morning (and this morning's was the largest bit of it so far.) I've read on other posts that this is pretty normal and shouldn't be concerning since it's not red blood. You ladies are SURE, right? Should I call my doctor's office to speak with a nurse and just hear what they have to say?? I will be 8 weeks tomorrow. Time is ticking by at a snails pace till I'm 12 weeks and won't be this worried.

Any words of encouragement will help. Thank you!! Everyone have a wonderful day.

hi I had a pinky discharge at around eight weeks lasted for two days then turned brown and thjis lasted for about a week I had a scan on the foirst day of pink discharge and everything was ok I am waiting for my 12 week scan in two weeks now and have had no bleeding since doc seemed to think it was coming from cervix and didnt seem concerned at all! I would give your doc or midwife a call just to reassure you. I think brown blood is ok and the fact it is not consistant it is just here and there is a good sign (thats what the doc said to me!) also my friend bleed brown blood at 8 weeks till about 14 weeks on and off her boy is 7 now!

Hi, I had the dreaded brown discharge yesterday and went into an absolute tailspin despite the fact that I'd already read about it and knew it was normal! I know it's scary but it really is normal - it's just your uterus expanding making a nice cosy home for baby. I've had none today but have promised myself that, if it returns, I'm going to keep calm!! Know what you mean about time going by slowly - I honestly feel like I'm NEVER going to get to 12 weeks!!

Thanks for your empathy, BabyLady. Your'e lucky yours didn't come back. What's concerning me is that it's been a couple times in a row now and a larger amount this time. I'm on hold with the doctor's office just to get a little reassurance. You mentioned the uterus expanding and other websites talk about how the placenta and/or the baby burrowing in more. I'm hoping that's all it is!

I'm sure it is but I know what you mean - it's good to get reassurance. I was straight on the phone to NHS Direct yesterday and got told the same thing yet again! As long as it's not fresh red blood and you haven't got severe cramps then there's nothing to worry about Let me know what they say as I'll need something to fall back on if it happens to me again!!!

The bit I've never understood is that if you have a mucus plug in your cervix how is the brown blood getting through? Does any one know?

When I called the doctor and spoke to the nurse, she said she wants me to come in for an ultrasound just to be sure. I was a little surprised. I thought for sure they would just say brown blood is old blood, you're fine. But, since it's happened 3 times she wants me to come in for an ultrasound. I guess I should be relieved so that hopefully we can see how everything is fine and I can have my peace of mind back. But right now I'm feeling scared!!! Sure hope everything is fine. Makes me nervous that she was concerned enough to want me to come in. I'll post in a few hours with the result. ahhhhh!! Say a prayer for me.
