One missed miscarriage on 1st pregnancy, now pregnant again 2 months later *UPDATE*
I am looking for some hope. I got pregnant in February 2011 and when I was at 6 weeks, I had an ultrasound that showed I was measuring at 5 weeks. There was a sac w/ yolk there but no fetal pole. I had another ultrasound a week later and the doctor said my sac had collapsed
I had a D&C and after 2 cycles, I am pregnant again. I am only 4 1/2 weeks right now. I am really hoping that the first missed miscarriage was just a fluke and not an indicator of what's to come.
Has anyone gone through something similar? or known any one to have a successful pregnancy after a missed miscarriage?
Me! I got pregnant for the first time last November. When I went in for my first ultrasound I should have been 10 weeks...but all there was, was the sac and it was measuring at 5 wks, I believe. About a week later I miscarried on my own (my choice). That was the very end of Jan/beginning of Feb. In May I found out I'm pregnant again. I had my first appt at 8 wks and everything looked great. We saw the heartbeat and baby was measuring 7+3. I go back again on Monday to confirm my dates. So far, so good.
I can't speak from personal experience, but I know plenty of women who had a chemical, MMC or MC during their first pregnancy and carried onward to have successful babies (one or more) after their body was recovered and ready.
Naturally, anything's possible - I'm always fretting, at 9 weeks - but it's not impossible to carry this baby and many more to term, by any stretch of the imagination. I hope things go well for you and that you have a happy and healthy 9 months! xoxoxox
Thanks for the encouraging words, ladies!! I am trying not to worry as I know that every pregnancy is different. It definitely helps to hear that other people have gone through a similar situation and gone on to have healthy pregnancies.
I guess the key thing here is to try and stay positive. The only symptoms I'm really having right now are slight cramping when I get up or start to move around. It's probably still very early for most symptoms though.
I know this post is a little old but how are things? I'm new to the board but found it your post and i honestly could have written it myself!!
This is also my 2nd pregnancy; my first ended in missed miscarriage in June. Basically miscarriage wasn't picked up until 10 weeks and the foetus had only dated 6 weeks.
I found out i was pregnant again early August and am around 6-7 weeks at the moment. I have an early scan booked in on Friday and am super nervous i'm not going to see a heartbeat again! I have had no real symptoms again (apart from sore boobs) and am paranoid am going to have another MMC.
I miscarried my first pregnancy in march this year at 7 weeks. We conceived 2 weeks later and now I am over 20 weeks with a healthy little girl! I must say, it has been a very nervous 20 weeks although everything has gone smoothly. I have an angelsounds doppler and managed to find the HB at 9+6 which has been very reassuring. Used it pretty much every day until about a week ago when I started feeling proper kicks! I am sure things will go well for you too! One miscarriage doesnt make you more likely to miscarry again! xxx
We had almost the exact same thing hun, MMC & D&C in April 2009, found out I was pg in July 2009, I know have a wonderful 16 month old son!
I am sure you will go on to have a beautiful baby, my advice for initially staying sane is keep busy & try not to read too much on these websites - so many women use B&B, and sadly some oh do end in MC - reading about them does not help an anxious mum-to-be...
I had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks last year (baby measured 6w+3d) and had a D&C.
I got pregnant again 8 months later and I am currently 14 weeks. Still terrified something is going to go wrong! I don't think the fear leaves you to be honest, but so far everything is going well with this pregnancy.
best of luck to you! I know how scary it is after a mc to get pregnant again. Trust everything will be fine and try to enjoy your pregnancy! (I know, easier said than done!!) but remember most women, following a miscarriage, will carry to term with no issues!
