"Threatened miscarriage" and side pain anyone had this and it NOT end in miscarriage?

Hi Girls.

Last tues and wed had a bit of spotting and awful right hand side pain, went to the hospital and they scanned me as were worried it was an ectopic, but baby was in the right place and saw heartbeat. They told me to go home and take paracetamol, come back if bleeding and pain gets any worse. they put threatened miscarriage on my notes.

I had a tiny bit of spotting (brown blood) sunday when i wiped.

Fast forward a week to today, I still have this constant side pain, Its not letting up. I went into work lasted 4 hours today and rang the Dr and asked them for advice. Rest is what he said, so am now home in bed, that's the best thing he said to do for a threatened miscarriage. He has also given me some codeine to help with the pain. I asked about 3 times but it fine to take when pregnant.

I have a scan booked on fri, I don't know if i am looking forward to it or dreading it.

Has anyone had a "threatened miscarriage" but not had a miscarriage?

xxxxx

Me...spotting/bleeding since about 3 weeks pregnant. Was put on bed rest for a week or so. So far, all is well. I agree with the doctor about resting. Really try to take it easy. I spent a lot of time online, watched movies and t.v. shows. I also slept a lot. It got really boring, but of course was totally worth it. The only time I got out of bed was to shower.

I think that threatened miscarriage is the diagnosis they give everyone that is bleeding/spotting/cramping. Not 100% on that, but pretty sure.

Anyway, it's WONDERFUL that your little bean is in the right place and has a heartbeat. It's really great because that rules out a few different things (if I'm not mistaken) like molar, ectopic pregnancy. So that is really a great thing.

I'll keep you in my prayers. PM me if you want to chat. I know how stressful cramping, etc. is...it's very difficult emotionally (well, it was for me).

Sending hugs!

Jellybean

I really hope things turn out ok for you. I didn't want to read and run, but I'm afraid I have no experience in this at all!
I'm sure many people have had spotting/bleeding but still gone on to have a normal, full-term pregnancy. From my understanding, some pain and spotting is very normal. I know it's hard, but please try not to worry or stress too much. Stay positive, and rest as best you can.
*hugs*

i have had spotting 3 times in this pregnancy. each time i raced out and got a scan and baby was fine. the last scan the dr told me that it just must be my body, some women have spotting throughout their pregnancy for an unknown reason.
