So I'm a seafood lover?

We had our family reunion and my family is a HUGE seafood loving family. And they had alot of steamed hardshell crabs, and of course, I ate some. Because they were cooked, and I know what to not eat of them. And I'm talking about maybe half a dozen that I ate, not the whole bushel. I never heard they were bad, just to watch everythings cooked, and I stopped eating sushi and all that stuff. Just wanted to make sure what I was told/and read that they are safe in moderation?

I'm sorry, it seems for every question that you girls answer, I always have another.

seafood (minus shark, swordfish, tilefish or king mackaral) is safe in moderation. just don't eat anymore seafood this week because seafood has mercury (all seafood) and mercury is no good for baby

I had fried clam strips this week. I HAD TO HAVE THEM. I read I can have 12 oz a week of low mercury fish. I never have tuna fish.

My favorite food is steamed blue crabs I get 3 dz every week. I used to own a fish market, I love seafood so much.

Yes we're supposed to eat it in moderation. I actually looked up specifically eating blue crabs for this situation and it all boils down to the waters where the crabs come from. For a while there was an area of the chesapeke that wasn't safe to eat.

If you're going to eat them I would learn about the waters yours come from.

Like i said they are my favorite food and the stuff I learned while opening my fish market is coming in handy. I explain what I know to my doctor and she and I work out what's healthy for me.

PM me if you want to talk more about it.

Seafood is okay, I only eat it ocassionally to begin with, so I never worried about how much I ate. I know shark and swordfish (sp?) is a no no, cause they have high levels of mercury, and there are a few others I forgot.

Actually all pregnant women should eat some seafood. Babies born to moms who eat seafood were smarter than the babies whos mom didn't eat seafood. Although you can take any "studies" like that with a grain of salt.
