I won't use splenda either, it makes me ill. I won't try stevia, figuring if splenda makes me sick stevia can't be too good for me either. I think stevia is supposed to be safe, but for me personally I try to avoid it.
Actually, I think Stevia is one of the safest options. It is ALL natural, as it comes directly from a plant. I grow a stevia plant on my back porch and use the leaves all the time. They are super sweet!
i tried some stevia in some tea this morning and gagged... i think maybe i will try to grow it also, see if that helps the taste thing. also would make me feel more comfortable since its not all processed. apparently the FDA approves it for use during pregnancy.... not that i necessarily trust the FDA :P
Just remember because something is all natural doesn't mean its safe in pregnancy. Rhubarb is all natural but if you eat the leaves they are poision. Marijuana is all natural but you shouldn't smoke that. I would risk stevia as it hasnt been well enough tested.
very true... and, now that i think about i cant imagine it will really taste different a lot than the processed stuff. i think im screwed i picked up some organic agave today as it said it had a low glycemic index. came home and tasted a little dab on my finger... that stuff is wonderful!!! then i go to the amazing internet and find that it is definitely not safe during pregnancy as it may cause birth defects and miscarriage. freakin pcos! i just want one little treat i guess im just going to have to eat an apple and be thankful that i even have food.
