C-Section Ladies

Hello ladies,

I was just wondering if anyone is due to have a section with this pregnancy? I had a borderline 4th degree tear with LO and due to the damage its done to me the midwife recommends a section (it is obviously ultimatley my choice but id rather not end up anally incontinent i can handle the issues i have at the moment.. just) It took me 11 months to be able to have sex again and i was 7 months PP before i could go a walk without taking a handful of painkillers..
Anyway im really just curious if anyones due a section here? or if anyones had an elective section before can you talk me through what happened for you?

Thank you!!

I am due to have a c section.

Unfortunately, I have a large fibroid right which apparently is close to the birth canal and will make a natural birth difficult. I'm disappointed to be honest as I really didn't want a c section. I've heard it is painful and the recovery much longer than with a natural birth.

I wonder if anyone here has had both and tell me if that is correct?

Babydance - so you tore when you gave birth naturally? That sounds so painful, I am so sorry that happened to you, so maybe I shouldn't feel so bad I am having a c section!

I had a "natural" birth with LO the doctor tried to turn her and tore me and then still had to give me an episi, this was all on G&A and to be honest i had horrific flashbacks! The rest of my labour was fine but when that doctor came in and did that it was as if i'd interupted her lunch and she was peed off with me! lol
I have 2 close friend who had sections and they were back to normal well before i was my full recovery (if you can class it is full as i still have issues that will never be resolved) took a year!
Looking forward to hearing everyones stories, dont be disappointed hun remember the most important thing is that you and baby are healthy!! xxx

I had a planned c-section with my daughter due to her breech position. I am not quite sure if I will try a v-bac with this next baby, or go for an elective c-section.

With my daughter, I was scheduled, but she came early. I ended up going into labour so I think my recovery was a little bit longer due to the contractions and pain I had before the surgery. The surgery itself was fine, they get the baby out very quickly. It takes about 45 mins. to close you up, and you recover for about an hour. My only complaint is that I didn't get to hold my daughter right away, as I was still pretty drugged up. The first week at home is tough, it is hard to move, sit up and pick up the baby. By the second week, you will feel almost 100%!

To be honest, I would rather go through a c-section than what you had to endure. I can't imagine how painful that was!

Good luck with your decision!

i laboured with my son for 30hours, got to 10cm, pushing and everything but because of the position he was in , there was absolutely no way he would have come out of there, but they kept trying and lost his beartbeat, so i had to have an emergency c-section. TBH the c-section itself was traumatizing (i was under a general), but thats because it was an emergency, but my recovery was fine ! i was a little crampy the next day, but 1 week later i felt quite normal considering ! so my recovery was fine. i will be having an elective c-section this time around.

Planned C section here as well! DS came out with his shoulders all funky causing me to fracture my pelvic bone. Unable to walk for quite some time. Still have issues with standing for periods of time, standing and getting dressed at the same time, sex (TMI but its true) - certain positions are harder cause I cant have my hips open wide for long periods of time. *giggle*, heavy lifting, etc.

I have SPD, it went undiagnosed for my entire pregnancy with DS. They were telling me it's regular ligament pain. After I gave birth, it took me an hour+ to get from the bed to the bathroom and back. TWO days later they finally took X rays and showed a fracture of 2, which is pretty severe. Had to go home in a MedicVan, layed on a stretcher and pulled up into my room. Had a waist high port-o-john to use the bathroom with, a walker, you name it. :/

Def wanted to keep my child bearing years vaginal but what can you do?! I am hella nervous!

FX for everyone to have a healthy baby/babies, labor, and speeding recovery!

I tried to go completely natural with DD, but that didn't work out as planned. I was in labor for 2 days and I didn't dilate more than 3 cm. Finally I had enough and asked for an epidural. After Pitcoin and no further dilation, I had to have a c-section.

The procedure itself was fine, but I didn't even want to hold my baby until after she got checked out because I was so drugged. They showed me her and I was like "Wow, a baby. Can I have something to drink now?" I didn't like that part one bit. The recovery was super easy for me though. I was up walking within a few hours, took a shower, had dinner, and started to bond with my child. It was minimal pain for what it was...I only took one Percocet after surgery. I handle pain well, but that wasn't me being a badass or anything! haha It was actually pretty numb and only stung when the skin around the incision healed.

My doc says I can try a VBAC or have a section that it's up to me. A Ceasarian is surgery, but you risk tearing/being cut (like you, ouch!) with vaginal. I'm leaning toward trying 100% natural again, but have many months to make up my mind.

I've had two c-sections. The first was much harder to recovery from than the second, but I was told going into it the second was usually better. Basically they took me down first did the spinal, got me all set up then brought in DH. The first section I didn't feel anything during (maybe because DS was 10wks early and so small), with the second (who was term) I could feel alot more tugging and pulling and actually thought I was going to get sick. The dr. just put some med in my iv when I started feeling that way. The nurses brought over both babies after. Then my husband got to hold them. With my first I had terrible headaches after (probably from leaking spinal fluid, it happens) and was in pain for like 3 wks. I had to push a w/c in front of me in the hopital to visit baby in NICU. But with second I was up out of the bed the next day no problem. I don't really think they are that bad. Just take ur pain meds if u need them. Dont do what I did with first and try to stand the pain until u almost pass out. The nicu nurse had to catch me and sit me down. LOL.

my mom was the same, my sister and i were both c-sections. her hips were too small on the inside and we couldnt pass through. im shaped just like her so when i had my first child over 7 years ago i read up on c-sections as i thought i would need one too and indeed i did. i had the same problem. my son couldnt fit through and he was born via c-section. the doctor said all of my births will be c-sections.
