Yes, drink lot's of water. Eat lot's of food that are high in fibre. I eat about 5-6 prunes a day. I have heard kiwi is great. Also, oatmeal is good too. If I slack off, even for a day, it all goes bad again. GL

Blueberries are a natural laxative.
So is prune juice, or just prunes.
I have dealt with IBS the majority of my life. And for some reason pregnancy has given me the exact opposite of constipation. But being constipated isn't fun. Also make sure your getting TONS of fiber, eat fiber one cereal, eat apples, if you don't feel you are getting enough fiber use benefiber and just sprinkle it into your favorite drink or over your favorite food, it has no flavor and it helps.
Good luck ladies, to be honest I am glad I am not in this boat during my pregnancy, but with IBS I have been in this boat many many many times.
I don't go for about three days and then get the runs - it's bad because it always seems to attack when I'm out !!!! I'm trying to drink loads of water but morning sickness is stopping me from having a varied diet.
What about some stool softeners?? I was taking a prenatal vitamin - CitraNatal Harmony - that had a ss in it, and it worked wonders... Actually to the point where I was pooping like 3x a day and that annoyed me so I switched, but it sure helped get the ball rolling when the constipation was horrible.
