lower back pain

This may not even be pregnancy related but this is the first time I've ever experienced this...I've been having a pain in my lower back right above my butt on the left side when I walk. It seems to be connected to my leg since it's when I walk. I'm wondering if it's some type of pinched nerve or something. Anyone else experience this? Last thing I need is an additional doctor bill....

sounds pregnancy related to me. I have really low back pain, a lot of time in my left hip, I spoke with my doctor about it and he said that I should go to a chiropractor since I am a stay at home mom and I have a 30+lb 2 year old who insists on being picked up, and it's the most comfortable to have her on my left hip...

GL to you!

I have non pregnancy pain on both sides in the exact spot you are pointing to.

It could be sciatic, but it could also be pain in the facet and or sacro illiac joints. I have osteoarthritis in that area and walking for me is horrendously painful, particularly in damp weather.

Have had to stop all my medication for it and am suffering after 5 days of constant heavy rain. My sciatic nerve in right leg is shot, typical symptoms are pain and even tingling in the big toe. I walk with crutches because of it, so if the left goes or baby sits on the left any time through pregnancy, am likely to be on bed rest and needing help to get to the loo.

Try a wheat heat pack on your lower back for the pain, apart from paracetamol, there is nothing that can be taken safely in pregnancy.

sadly i'm suffering from this too already i've got some minor pain in my lower back that radiates into my left glute and into the back of my upper thigh. A literal pain in the ass! Sitting for awhile at my desk seems to aggravate it most. Try to acknowledge if there is a certain position you are in that makes it worse. Warm baths are OK as long as you aren't getting too hot (no hot tubs, or if you start to sweat or breathe heavier get out of the water). Heating pads are also nice.

If you have any solutions that work please let us know!!! For me, just laying down seems to help...though I can't really do that at work...

Hubby fears what i'll be like in my third trimester lol

OH MY GODSH! YES! I am in agony! It feels very much like a pinched nerve or sciatica. I know sciatica is rare in pregnant women, and the likely cause would be the uterus/baby pushing down on a nerve. But I'm only a bit over ten weeks, and while I am showing, I'm not really all that big. I refuse to take anytingn even tylenol, and won't use an electric heating pad that close to my baby. So, I'm really at a loss. I can barely bend over anymore.

No need to use electric heat pads. Use a wheat heat pack that can be heated in the microwave for 2 minutes and hold it over your lower back, its perfectly safe, have been told to use them myself.

Thanks for all of the advice! Still having the pain and I really think it's pregnancy related. Only thing that helps is laying down, and of course I have a job that requires me to be on my feet all day interacting with people. I just walk with a limp now.

I have a lot of back pain too. I work at a daycare and I think its from lifting the chubby 18 month olds. I feel better when not at work. Good luck! Hope it goes away!
