Cough drops might help a little! Also, it sounds kinda icky.. But honey is actually a really good natural healer. If you can stand it, try and swallow a few spoons of straight honey. It's not gonna work miracles lol but it may help sooth your throat a little!
I'm sorry you feel so crappy! I'm just now getting over a cold, I felt exactly like you do just last week and it sucked! Drink lots of water and get as much sleep as possible!
Oh and also Benedryl/antihistamines are on the 'safe list'. It may help with the runny and stuffy nose (gets rid of some mucus) and also might make you drowsy so you can get some rest!
My throat is so sore too. I used to know someone that was a naturalist/herbalist (not quite sure of the right terminology) and he told me that strepsils etc are a con as it is the sucking action which actually helps (I am not implying you do anything rude lol). Ever since he told me this I have just sucked mints etc when I have a sore throat. It does not have the same numbing effect but it does bring some relief, and as others have said a hot honey and lemon drink can be helpful. I hope we all feel better soon x
I just went through the worst cold and sore throat--
I was actually told antihistamines are a no during pregnancy, so I went with natural remedies:
1. Nose tapes/nasal strips and saline nose spray-- didn't really work the first 4 days but helped as my nose started clearing up a bit.
2. a couple of drops of olbas oil or peppermint oil helps the nose a bit, and coughing if you have it.
4. gargling with salt
5. honey lozenges
6. manuka honey in hot water with a bit of lemon
7. a tiny bit of oil in hot water coats the throat as well-- I used ground flax seed and let it sit in hot water and then drank it.
8. Berry smoothies-- very cold/icy-- I just kept craving them and I felt better afterwards for awhile each time I had one. No logic here, just my experience!
