follow the instructions on the prescription label I would say. If your doctor knows you are pregnant he will have prescribed a suitable dose.

Typically, the dosage for BV in pregnancy is 500 mg by mouth twice a day for 5-7 days. Don't try and play catch up with your meds at this point, just take it according to the label from now on and finish it all. You shouldn't need to restart the medication, but you should be retested for BV in a few weeks at your follow up appointment. Chances are, the medication is still helping you even at the lower dose so I wouldn't worry. I'm an RN licensed in Texas. good luck to you

I forgot to mention, just call your doctor on Monday to make them aware of what happened so they know to follow up with retesting. It happens all the time so don't worry

Lol. Its ok, the normal dose is 1000 mg a day (given in two divided doses), so I'm very sure he meant 800 mg total per day. I've seen 800 mg/day prescribed quite a bit, especially when the pills are only available in 200 mg/each instead of the 250 mg or 500 mg/each dose. I hope that makes sense! Here is an article with a chart to help you feel more comfortable about the dosage, or you can just google "bacterial vaginosis flagyl pregnancy" and you will get alot of good resources to make your mind feel at ease.

He probably said what is printed on the label, as he would have had to type the instructions into the computer to create your prescription and those same instruction then appear on the label.
