So slow in the UK!!

Well I finally referred to my maternity unit at local hospital (has to be from 6 wks) very basic convo with the nice lady, she then says that a midwife will be in touch at about wk 11 for my booking in appointment & to book my 1st scan, god it seems ages away!!! I want it now!! (god I sound like a brat!!!)

It does seem like an eternity doesn't it? The first trimester really drags on. No wonder private early scans are getting to be so popular. but keep ticking off those days and you will be at your scan before you know it

I am not sure if its because of a previous loss, error on the part of the receptionist or just the Surgery policy- but when I rang Docs to make an appointment she booked me straight in with midwife (no GP appt) and I go on Wednesday this week

I think different NHS trusts do it differently!

Up here, I have to take in a wee sample, have a Drs appointment to get it confirmed, then they arrange an appointment with the midwife around 8 weeks to get booked in, then we have a scan around 12 weeks! A bit long winded in my mind!

here i went to my doctors, told them i was pregnant. doctor asked if i was happy and then i had to put my name down for the midwife at reception. seen the midwife just after i was 7 weeks and now got my first scan october 24th. i dont find them slow but i wish they did things that were abit more exited instead of talk talk talk

My doctor asked if that was good news, when I said yes he explained that he won't get involved much and to book in with a midwife. Saw doc at 6 weeks, booking in appointment with midwife is on Wednesday, when I'll be 8+2. Not sure when my scan will be, but I'm hoping by the end of the month. I'm in Manchester too, maybe it depends on your PCT/GP surgery?
