It's not the fruit to be concerned about it's certain herbs that we have to be careful of. In Canada herbal teas are not regulated...meaning any type of herbal tea is allowed to be sold off the shelf. There are specific types to definatly avoid as they are proved to cause miscarriage. Things like peppermint and chamomile, are fine though.

My coworker practically lived off of pineapple during her pregnancy and had to be induced!

Thanks ladies - i will continue to eat in moderation then as I like pineapple!! It wasnt just random google info from people it was on a proper pregnancy website about not having pineapple! it seemed a bit shocking really not to eat fruit..

I am a bit tired of people having a go at me tho for asking questions. I thought we were here to help each other.. (thanks skyraa for sticking up for me!)

I just wanted to be absolutely sure before I went ahead and ate them!

jen - i have heard this about certain teas, i know in the uk we are told to only drink raspberry tea near the end of pregnancy as it can induce labour, but in other places they drink it throughout I guess its similar to the pineapple, it may start mild contractions when taken in large amounts.

Everything is so confusing. Rasberry leaf tea strenghtens your utereus muscles and can help with contractions. There is no evidence it induces miscarriage/labour though. Enjoy your pineapple hun and drink that tea in 3rd tri

No one was jumping down her throat! Written words have no expression so how we read them can be taken so differently to how they are meant. But it is true that the comment about pineapple is rubbish- it was not her comment but one she read, so no one was aiming it at her!

I was told to try raspberry leaf tea as it helps when in labour- not to induce it. Aparently it helps with your contractions and helps you have a faster labour. I drank it and had a 12 hour labour (not that I think it was the raspberry leaf tea lol) but will be trying it again
xx

Taken from 'pregnancyglee.com'

Is it safe to take pineapple during pregnancy? Is it advisable at the end of a pregnancy to take pineapple juice or eat the flesh in order to bring on labour?

Maybe.

Eating pineapple or drinking pineapple juice is said to be an old wive’s tale to bring on labour for woman past their due date. Large amounts of pineapple juice can, in fact, cause uterine contractions. It’s for this reason that in early pregnancy, it’s often suggested that you don’t drink pineapple juice in excess amounts.

Why pineapple can cause contractions

Fresh pineapple contains Bromelain which can also soften the cervix . But it is said that it takes large quantities to have any effect which can also result in diarrhea. Some women say that they’ve had zero problems having plenty of pineapple and pineapple and pineapple juice during pregnancy and others claim it brought on labour.

The verdict on pineapple during pregnancy?

Some would say that you should eat it in moderation and watch for any signs of problems before your due date.

If you’re at or past your due date, it might help you bring on labour.

~~

This post has brought a lot of diverse opinions on the topic of whether or not pineapple is ok for pregnancy. Check out the comments and if you have an opinion, feel free to share your take on the topic.

I also drank it from about 34 weeks. 7 hour labour and 35 mins pushing! Like you said, you can't know if it was the RLT but will def be drinking it again
