So when does your risk of miscarriage go down?

Sorry I'm sure this has been asked but is it after you see the heartbeat?
I'm trying to decide when to tell family/friends etc. but I really want to make sure everything is ok first.
I had a m/c back in '06 and don't want to go through telling people that again.
We are telling my OH's stepfather for a Xmas present only because he's been bugging us to have a baby since long before we ever even decided to start trying!
But I'm not sure when it'll be "safe" to spill the news to the rest.

PS..I LOVE being pregnant!!!! I just want to stand on a mountain top and shout it out loud!!!!

Congrats on your pregnancy!
The risk of miscarriage goes down significantly after the first trimester.

Once you've seen the heartbeat it goes to something like 2-5% risk of miscarriage

Hmm, I'm not sure :/ I think you can generally see it though before you can hear it.

after it becomes a fetus, which is 9 weeks.
but its safer to say 12 weeks is when it goes down to about 3-5%
and i think you should tell family sooner then later, even if you do m/c theres no way of preventing it so i'd just tell them and have their support through everything.
thats what i did:]
AND i had to tell my parents a week before my bday lol
but it was a lovely bday present

Hi. I had an early scan at 8 weeks 1 day where we saw and heard a heartbeat. I was told then and got it in writing that the chance of miscarriage then went down to 2%! Hope that helps! Xxx
