I had my first ultrasound on Friday and measured at 6w even though I should have been 6+3. I had a second appointment this morning and measured 6+3 when I should have been 7+1. The growth lag is getting bigger, but the heart rate increased from 105 to 120.
it was only my second month off the pill so I'm not completely sure of my cycle length, but I do know that we conceived a few days after ovulation (lmp 11/17 and conception on or after 12/6)
I was hopeful going into the scan today, but I left feeling discouraged and prepared to miscarry. Have any of you had similar experiences? If so which way did they go - miscarriage or viable pregnancy?
Any advice or support is truly appreciated!
I'm sorry you're going through this. I have no personal experience, but it appears that the baby IS growing and the heart rate IS increasing, and these are both very positive things. What did you dr. say?
Hopefully someone can respond that has first hand experience.
The doctor was concerned, especially by the increased growth lag, but she didn't say I would definitely miscarry. She actually used her own experience as an example - they couldn't find her daughters heartbeat until the 8th week or so, but her daughter was fine and healthy. That made me feel a bit better. I have another appointment next Thursday at which point she thinks she'll be able to tell one way or another. I was just hoping to hear if other moms-to-be had similar experiences or are going through the same thing.
I had early scans at 6 and 7 weeks, when i went to see my mw she told me to ignore these scans as they cant really measure the baby properly because when they measured the baby and 6 weeks and i went back over a week later they said the baby was 6+6 max!
Try not to worry too much as others have said they baby is getting bigger and the heartbeat is increasing! Hope everything is ok
im waiting for my 12 week scan for a more accurate date.the first scan done had diff dates and sizes depending on which angle the mw was looking at the baby from one was as early as 5w2days and the other said 6w1d .same with the scan a week later my bladder wasnt full enough so again she got different dates the biggest being 7w1d.since i got a week apart result from 2 scans ive went with those dates but only the 12 week one is really going to tell me the real gestation.
don't worry! the scans usually have a 5 day "give or take" in the beginning. Your dates look good! also, the further along you get, the more out of whack the dates become lol; you'll get a baby's head measuring a week ahead of his legs and weird things like that...they all just grow so differently your measurements look good
My SIL just experienced this last month, she measured 4- 5 weeks at her 8 week scan but good heartbeat, she was sure of her dates too, went back for scan 10 days later and measured 8w3 so try not to worry x
Apparently at this stage very difficult to measure as even 1day makes such a big difference.
I want to tell you the growth lag is not much off at all first scan you were off 3 days, today you were off 5 days, the heartrate is also goign up like it should, 3 bpm per day..I think you are fine. I know the worry is there and its not a nice worry. Myself I had same issues this pregnancy and so far so good.
Edited to add
Most US, depending who done them, are off by about a day or two ..just so you know. ...from last scan you may of been exactly what it shoudl of been about a 3 day lag instead of 5 and btw, not all babies measure right to how far along you should be
