Then, we went on holiday to New York and, as we were walking through Central Park he turned to me and said 'if we get married, can I still go to the football?'. In my head, I was thinking 'is this it, is this really the romantic proposal!'. We then went and picked my ring and we headed back to the hotel where he immediately threw up! It was soooooooo romantic! Obviously, I now tell people that DH proposed to me during a romantic walk in Central Park - it sounds so much better! DH and I have been together for 10 years and married for four and a half. What about you guys?

I'm so jealous of your doppler. I wish I had some way of checking my LO was alright. Are they quite easy to use?

I know what you mean about the things people say to try and make us feel better. My mum said not to worry and that if it's meant to be, it'll be. Although that's the way I feel, it doesn't make me feel any better when people say it out loud! But like you say, each day is a day closer. I just pray that I get positive news on Tuesday. Oh, now that I come to think of it, I have a question for you. I've read that at my six week scan it might be too early to see anything - apart from maybe a fetal pole. I know you can see the fetal pole in your first scan but I was wondering what that was? Is it part of the sac or is it part of the baby? I suppose I should have queried that before now!!!

Yes, my scan is on Tuesday. DH will take me but I'll go in by myself. Can I ask how long your scan lasted? Also, I've never had an internal scan before, but I imagine it's pretty uncomfortable? DH has been really good at looking after me, it's like it's my birthday every day right now! Oh, I don't know if I mentioned this, but if my little bean sticks in there then it will be due on my birthday! I just pray that it holds on and grows healthy and that I can get a doppler like you to bug the bejeesus out of my baby!

And, yes, welcome to motherhood indeed. I bet both these babies are boys - they're causing us so much hassle already!!!

I've been meaning to ask about the bike in your profile pic - it looks great. Are you and DH both into biking?

How's your headaches and sickness? Hope you and your peanut are doing really, really well

Ahh! haha! That's amazing! They sound sooo much alike! He could've made it sooo romantic in central park too! LOL! sounds exactly like my DH. I do the same thing, I tell them he proposed to me in our yard right by the raspberry bushes that I worked SOOO hard at planting! I don't always mention the first time he asked me and that I was on so much pain killers the second time because I had back surgery the day before! But still, gotta love them! My DH and I have been married since last May and together since March of 2010. If he gets to come home in May that'll be the BEST anniversary present EVER!!! Ten years is a long time!! That's so cute!

The doppler is sooo easy to use! All I do is cover the top of the probe where it's flat with the gel it comes with and turn it on and lately I've been hitting the heart beat spot on! Haven't had a day yet where I can't find it, thank goodness! I was afraid getting one would worry me more than it would benefit me, but I'm so glad I got it!

Ohh now I can't wait for Tuesday! It is really hard to stomach thinking something bad could happen, even now! I still get nervous before ultrasounds! My first ultrasound where it's just the fetal pole, the baby dated 5 weeks 6 days. From what I gather the fetal pole is the embryo at it's smallest visible point to the naked eye. I've heard that some people can see the heart beat in the fetal pole, however in mine we didn't see the heart beat until the next ultrasound when I was 7 weeks. Don't get disheartened if you can't see the heart beat though! I was so excited just seeing the little speck of baby (well, embryo but to me BABY!)

That's good that your DH is going to take you!! The scans are always pretty quick, no more than ten minutes! Mainly just measurements and pictures. She looks around to make sure everything looks okay and of course I just sit and stare in awe!The internal exams aren't too bad. The first couple times were the most uncomfortable but I think they are easier now because I know what to expect. That's so cool that your little bean will be due on your birthday!!!! What a wonderful birthday present! That's gotta be a good sign, right!? I have complete faith that your little bean will stick! then you can get a doppler and bug the heck out of him/her!!

We both picked up riding motorcycles the summer of 2010 when we started dating. It was a blast! The riding season is short here in Alaska but still just amazing! It's sad that I won't ride this summer but VERY much worth it! Of course, I will probably still be butt hurt and jealous when my DH goes out riding! I already warned him!

I'm doing much better lately! Still tired a lot, but it doesn't seem to be quite as bad! I'm hoping to get more energy back as I get closer to the second trimester (keeping my fingers crossed!)
How about you? How are you and your little bean feeling symptom wise? and the spotting? I really really hope it stops sooooon!!! Every time I get on I cross my fingers that your post will say that it stopped!!!

alright, enough rambling for one night! haha!
Take care, get some rest, and I'll be sending lots of love and hugs!

(Nothing much has changed there. ) She initially did a tummy scan on me and then the transvaginal one which is pretty much like a probe thing that goes up your hoo-ha. The probe isn't exactly hung like a horse, but it's not like a pencil either. It's bearable. No worse than a pap smear - in fact, a pap smear is much more uncomfortable. With me, it was too early to see the fetal pole (which I am assuming is a fancy schmancy term for the heartbeat). She did see a little sac - she said she 'assumed' that was the sac. (Oh my god - freak out!) Then she also saw this big-ass haematoma in there which she also said 'may' be the start of a miscarriage. Captain fantastic. She was so lovely about it and was apologising so much, saying that it was just a wait-and-see situation. I wouldn't have been there for longer than 30 minutes, but it may have been a lot shorter than that because I was utterly beside myself.

I was completely astounded to the the difference between the first scan and my second on Monday. You will be absolutely fine, beautiful. Damnit, I wish I could be there with you!!!! You could not be any worse than me. I am a complete freaked-out, panic-stricken, worry-wort. I wouldn't be surprised if I develop a massive ulcer from all this. Gah! Tuesday is only a few short days away. xxx
Please tell Mr Hit Girl thank you for letting you borrow his computer so I can see the pics. They're AMAZING! I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking at though - I pretty much need someone with a pointer pen and arrows!!! I think it has your eyes right enough! Did they get those pics from an internal scan or from a tummy ultrasound (I'm sure there's a much more scientific name for it!). Are they going to continue scanning you regularly until they know the haematoma has gone?

God, to be told that they could see a potential m/c afoot at your first scan must have been awful. I've kind of started to build myself up for the worst but in reality, I'll be completely devastated if they give me bad news. On the other hand, my addiction to digi HPTs is starting to pay off - today I got my 3+!!! That's gotta be a good sign surely!!!

How are you doing? Do you feel more relaxed now you've heard a heartbeat or are you still freaking out? Oh, and how's the spotting? (PS I'm inspired by your profile pic to create a new superhero called Mrs Spotty whose aim is to rid the world of spotting. What do you think? )

When do you find out if your DH gets to come home in May? Will you find out soon or nearer the time? It seems so far away and I can only imagine how hard it must be for you. Do you get to speak to him regularly? Or email?

I've been warned by loads of people not to expect too much at the first scan but to be honest, I'll be happy if they can confirm there's something there. My big worry is if they see an empty uterus. Please, please, please, please, please be okay. I bought a book that shows how babies grow week by week in the womb - it's absolutely fascinating! I've read it twice already!!! You and Hit Girl must be over the moon having your very own scan pics - I'm very jealous!

I've never been on a motorbike before but I've always wanted a shot. Tell your DH he's banned from biking until baby biker comes along. Alternatively, he'll have to make up for any riding he does with plenty of foot rubs!

I'm glad you raised the symptom question because I'm not too sure what symptoms I should have right now! My left boob hurts (, just the one?!) and I'm pretty gassy. Also, I feel like I could definitely squeeze in a midday nap these days! Other than that, I'm pretty symptom-less! I've had the odd twinge of a headache but it's never come to anything. What about you, have you had any new symptoms or any old symptoms that have worn off? What about you Hit Girl, any symptoms? I must say, when TTC I tried desperately not to symptom spot and I suppose I do the same now! The only major symptom I have is a complete aversion to chocolate - and I LOVE chocolate!

Take it easy, don't go lifting any microwaves , and sending you a big to you and your peanut!

We won't find out until they tell them to start packing up, probably April. Then we'll at least know when he'll be in the states. Once he gets to washington he just has to wait to find out when he actually gets to come home. The company really doesn't seem to consider families and how we feel. I've grown pretty used to that the past year though.. we do get to talk everyday, on MSN messenger phone calls are rare, he's been able to call once since november so that does stink. Still thankful we get to talk everyday online

Aww, when you go in for your ultrasound on tuesday.. if you are able to see anything definitely ask for pictures!!! I made sure to even when peanut was a teeny fetal pole Then you can start your little beans collection of pictures! I really hope it's not too soon for you to see your little one! I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!

Haha! Well, I look at him riding this summer without me as payback for me riding last summer while he was deployed But he must definitely give me footsie rubs to make me feel better!! And you should definitely give riding a shot, I absolutely love it! It's such a free feeling! If that makes sense!

I haven't had a bunch of symptoms like a lot of women, mainly just exhausted 100% of the time and headaches seem to come and go, but not as often as earlier in the pregnancy. At first I was kind of worried, but now I'm just happy that this pregnancy is fairly symptom-less!!!

How are you feeling today? I hope things are going well and staying well! same goes for you Hit Girl!!

My appointment went well! The doc found the heartbeat and it's strong at 150bpm. She showed me where my uterus is coming up out of my pubic bone and finally didn't have to do an internal ultrasound!! Peanut has really grown! he/she was asleep at first but she woke the baby up by shaking my belly with the ultrasound probe! I have this adorable video of the little peanut kicking and trying to do flips. It was fascinating! here's the link, hopefully it'll work!
http://s1135.photobucket.com/albums/...1212wvideo.mp4
however, I did find out that I am a carrier of one of the cystic fibrosis genes which means the little one will for sure be a carrier. When my DH gets home I will have him get tested.. if he's also a carrier then the little one will have a 25% chance of having cystic fibrosis. I'm trying not to worry though until we know if he's also a carrier or not!

take care! you and your little bean rest plenty!! sending lots of hugs!

I have watched that 30 times this morning already (and I'm sure I'll watch it at least 30 times more before I log off!) - it's out of this world! I just want it to keep going! I can't believe that, you're what, 11 weeks now? And that looks like a complete baby! I can totally see it's little legs (or buds of legs!) propelling him/her around your womb! WOW! How on earth did you get that? Did you video it on your phone? You must feel so much better seeing that. What did DH say? If I was your DH I'd jump in one of those tanks and barge my way home! PS I don't know if you heard it (it was very quiet) but your baby asked if I'd be an auntie and I said yes. I thought, as his/her mum, you should probably know! I've never seen a video like that - I'm just gobsmacked. I bet you can't stop watching it? I'd have it as my screensaver!!! And it's great that you didn't need an internal scan. Is that the end of the internal scans for you? I'm hoping so - the jelly on the belly is so much more dignified!!!

Now, the cystic fibrosis thing, I actually know where you're coming from. My SIL was tested with her first child and was told she was a carrier. She had months of worry that her DH was a carrier too as, like yours, he was deployed at the time. Turns out, he was a carrier too and they're worry multiplied. But both that baby and the next were ABSOLUTELY FINE. She was deployed in the states at the time which is the only reason she had the test, they don't test for it here as the odds are so low. Even if you are both carriers it's so unlikely that anything will happen. My late MIL had advised me and DH to go for counselling before we decided to try for a baby, just in case we were carriers too (as with his sis a carrier it is likely he is too). However, we didn't bother as it wouldn't have stopped us trying. So, the likelihood is that DH is a carrier but they don't even test for it in the UK. Please don't worry about it as my SIL was told the chances of her DH being a carrier too was super low. And then, even with both of them as carriers, all was fine. Your little peanut is A-okay and will continue to do absolutely fine both in the womb and beyond - I know these things, I'm an auntie! I know it's hard but you need to put it to the back of your mind or you'll worry yourself crazy, and you need to keep calm and happy for your LO.

AFM: Still spotting. I'm never really sure what's happening but I think it might be slightly heavier today I just can't understand where all the blood is coming from. My HPT conception indicator shows '3 weeks plus' which is right as I was three weeks yesterday, although technically 5 weeks plus three. I'm still clinging on to the progress of my HPTs and hoping my LO can hang on in there till Tuesday when I find out more. At least the appointment is first thing in the morning!

Hope you're taking it easy and that you're continuing to bug your baby with the doppler (I'm still so jealous about that by the way!).

I can't quit watching the video!!! I emailed it to my DH and he was just as excited as I was! I told him this baby must have my "super grumpy morning" genes because of how active he/she was right when the doc woke him/her up! Told my DH he better prepare for two grumpy butts in the morning! I really didn't expect to see so much movement! And I did use my phone! I've kept it at my side at each appointment in case there was movement! I just HAD to get a video to send to my DH! The doc said I should feel fluttering soon, I'm 12 weeks today.. but I still think I have atleast a few more weeks! My next appt is on feb 17 (yay for being longer than two weeks!!) The day after my birthday! Oh and you can so be an auntie! And your little bean said I could be his/her auntie too! I have this feeling that our little one is going to be a girl, mainly because EVERY gender chart says girl and I haven't met anyone where the charts have been wrong! silly I know! My friend who just moved to Germany had her son last August and she started calling him Peanuts boyfriend and peanut is his girlfriend!!! Now it'll be funny if peanut ends up being a boy!!!

Yeah, I think I'm done stressing about being a CF carrier.. I told my DH and he was like his normal self, saying how they test for these things way too early to cause unneeded concern. I just told him how I would rather know and be somewhat prepared before the baby is born rather than it being a complete surprise. I told him whether he agrees or not he's getting tested! The doc said if we are both carriers there is only a 25% chance of our baby having it. So that is really slim! Either way I love our little one more than anything!!! I'm glad that your SIL's kiddos were both fine even though they are both carriers! That does make me feel better too

Ahh! I want to seriously talk to your insides and tell them to stop! I did that to myself a lot! of course I probably looked like a nut case! Luckily it's just my four dogs and me in the house! I think it's still good though that the HPT's are reading 1-2, then 2-3, then 3+!!! that should mean that your HCG levels are increasing if I'm not mistaken!? Ahh I wish I had a time machine (or as my DH would say, a delorean from back to the future)!! Then I would fast forward through this weekend and make tuesday get here quicker!!! It's still great that you aren't cramping either! How long have you been spotting now? Are you making sure to take it easy? If it was me I'd be putting your butt on bed rest until it stops!

I'm making sure to still take it easy, however doc said I could (and of course should) get back into going to the gym.. before pregnancy i was a workout ADDICT! and since I got pregnant and had all the spotting I've been TERRIFIED to workout. But she said to start with the water classes im interested in and the yoga/pilates one and then move onto the elliptical. but NO running on a treadmill or track or anything else that is high impact. and I plan on taking advantage of the gyms massage therapist for prenatal massages!

well girl, I really hope your taking it easy! Tell DH to take you on a nice relaxing vacation! and I think Hit Girl and I are going to find some way to teleport ourselves to be there on Tuesday!!! And I'll have a talk with your little bean in the mean time about how he/she needs to stiiicckkk because auntie says so!!! lots and lots of hugs!

I just wrote this super-long post here and then I lost it! %^$@!@$!$%&^%!!!

I shall try my best to rewrite the magic...

Symptoms? I didn't have any MS to begin with and that really worried me. Then one day I was flipping through a supermarket catalogue and I saw a block of Cadbury chocolate in there and the nausea was instant. (I can't believe you have a chocolate thing too!!) Since then it's been pretty nonexistent (I was starting to suspect that one time was all in my head) up until a few days ago. I was putting my dinner plate in the dishwasher and I got a whiff of the other dishes in there. I almost barfed all over the kitchen. Last night I was thinking I hadn't worn my retainer in a while and I probably should tonight and then BAM! I couldn't even say the word 'retainer'. Just imagining putting that thing in my mouth sent me over the edge. How ridiculous is that? I've been queasy many other times too, but for no good reason. I can be fine with something one minute and then the next it's all on. Even thinking about being sick can do it for me.

Okay. The sore boobies but only on one side thing? Yes. Definitely yes. That freaked me out so much. For a while it was like my left one didn't even know there was anything going on. Now they both hurt or they'll take turns to taunt me. Silly boobies.

So that's where I got up to before I had to go to my doctor's appointment today and subsequently lost everything I had written. The doc seemed really happy with how everything was going and wants me to have another ultrasound in a week to see how the haematoma is going. She also instructed my husband (who was at the appt) to take the computer away from me if I start to look up horrible things that will make me panic.

akblaze, I am so jealous of where you are in your pregnancy. 12 weeks seems so far away for me right now (I'm at 8w). Hope everything is progressing splendidly with both you and the beautiful Happenstance. I'll get working on the teleportation device. xxx

Regarding the spotting: Gah! This spotting completely blows. Mine went a little bit heavier too for a short time. Is it every time you wipe? How much is in your pad? For a while mine was every time I wiped and there was often barely anything on my pad. It varied between brown and red. I even had a bit of red before my last scan. I sincerely wish akblaze and I could be with you at your scan. Will your gorgeous DH be there? x

I'm so happy you're at 12 weeks now and you have to let me know as soon as you feel fluttering. That would be so exciting! Grumpy or not, I'd be poking that baby till it moved! That's great that they've moved you off two week scans, that just goes to show how much progress you've made and how happy they are with little peanut. I think it's great that 'she' has already got a boyfriend - looks like you'll have your hands full with that one! At least you can keep a close eye on her as I've boys have a terrible habit of leading us girls astray!

I agree that your DH should get tested and I think you are taking exactly the right approach, you have to remain as relaxed as possible and just take things in your stride. My motto in life is 'you can't worry about things you can't change'. It's amazing how many times I've had to use that! (NB It doesn't always work, but it can pull you back from the brink sometimes!)

As for that time machine idea, I LOVE it! I'm going to close my eyes and when I wake up it'll be Tuesday It seems the closer I get, the further away it is. I think the spotting has been worse today and yesterday - more like a light period. I'm just getting really frustrated about the whole thing, it's like my body is completely letting me down when I need it most. DH has been great though and has been spoiling me rotten! If I so much as look the wrong way he's running around getting me water and tea and making sure I'm okay!

Now, FOUR dogs! That doesn't sound like you can take it easy at all! What kind are they? How long have you had them for? I think it's great that you're doing well enough to go back to the gym, but please just take it slowly. Baby steps...!

Oh, my little bean says it would love to have you as an auntie (surely it has to be a good sign that it's talking already! )

PS Love that you've changed your profile pic - love it!

I've done that before, it's soooooooo frustrating!

This might sound strange, but I'm glad you're feeling sick! I wish I was as I would at least know I was pregnant! It's good to know I'm not the only one who's gone off chocolate - I thought that was the weirdest thing ever! I don't know what it is, it just makes me think of eating a pile of lard

I'm glad your doc appointment went well and it's great you're going for another ultrasound. I think any chance to see your LO must be so exciting! Have they given you any idea how long it will take for the haematoma to go away? Is it days/weeks/months or does it just depend on how your body deals with it? Also, I've been meaning to ask this for ages, but what causes it - did you have it before you were pregnant or just since you've been pregnant? I'm praying that it goes away really soon and that your spotting stops. Oh, and while it's good that you don't look up the dreaded Dr Google, please don't let them take away your computer - I'd miss you Tell your DH just to put a passcode lock on everything other than BnB! How's your spotting been, has it dried up yet? I really hope so!

Now, the boobies thing. I was really starting to wonder why only one half of my body seemed pregnant, so glad to know you felt the same! The only thing is, I keep pinching them to check they're still sore (which, of course, makes them sore!) and then I panic if it didn't hurt so much so then I pinch again (which makes them sorer) and then I wonder if they really are sore or if it's just cause I'm pinching them?!

As for my spotting, it's been heavier today and yesterday which is freaking me out. Since the day my spotting started (which was 4dpo and before I was even pregnant!) it's been there every time I wipe. I don't soak through pads or anything but there's definitely a light amount of blood each time I change them - more like when your period is tapering off. There's no 'flow' as such, but I definitely need to wear a liner or a pad. Also, it varies from brown to red but lately it's been more of a dark red colour. Today is the 18th consecutive day of spotting and it's driving me crazy Where is it coming from?! Why on earth did it start before I was even preggo? The only positive that I'm taking from it at the moment is that I still don't have any pain. I don't even know if I'd feel pain if I m/c? Oh, this waiting is so hard. How are you and akblaze getting on with that time machine/teleportation device? I need my girls with me!
