6 week scan Tuesday - anyone had one this early?

Hi all,

I have a scan on Tuesday where I will be dead on 6 weeks (from my own estimations) can anyone tell me what I should see?

There is concerns that I may be eptopic; I had slight bleeding the day after my bfp (red blood once when i wiped) and when I had a scan at 4 weeks they couldn't see anything. My hcg on Tuesday (first reading) was 343 progesterone 54 and yesterday hcg was 804.

I was called to the dr today to give an update of the hospital and he's told me that if I were eptopic then my hcg wouldn't double up right - the hospital on Tuesday told me they hoped my hcg on Thursday would be 700 and I'm well over that - but then told me that I still should bear it in mind that it could still be eptopic but to try stay positive!

I'm very confused. I've had no more Bleeding and no pain, except dreaded gas! I was really happy that my hcg more than doubled by feel like everyone is telling me that it may be eptopic? Will they be able to tell at my scan on Tuesday if it is eptopic?

Any advice would be really appreciated x

Hiya, I have had a bit of bleeding too so went for a scan on wednesday this week. I thought I was 6weeks 3days but the scan showed me at 5w 4days. They found a gestational sac, yolk sac and the beginnings of a very tiny fetal pole - 1.4mm. You don't normally see a heart flutter until 6 weeks +. Amazingly they also found a second sac and yolk but with no pole, showing a couple of days younger, so there's a chance I could end up with twins!
If they find no sacs at all then there's a chance its an ectopic - as in that case the sac would be elsewhere in your body, most likley in your fallopian tube. I know someone who had an ectopic and she said it was literally agony - she fainted and threw up it was that bad, and she's been through labour twice! I don't think its ectopic - 4 weeks is just really too early to see anything. I bet you'll have a sac/yolk next time!

Thanks pebbles, congrats on your (maybe) twins, that's amazing! I can't wait to go to the scan and see what's happening, I don't feel like I have the signs of an eptopic it they've put it in my head to expect it and now I'm too worried to try and enjoy the first few weeks because I'm terrified that the scan Tuesday will say eptopic. Fingers crossed that baby pole will be growing in the right place!

I had a scan today at 5 weeks 3 days to determine how far along I was (we thought it was much further!!). They found a gestational sac and yolk sac but thats all so I'm terrified that they should have been able to see more. I'm guess four weeks is way to early to see anything. In the first part of my scan they couldn't see anything at all and I'm a week further along then you were. They had to do an interneal scan. I'm fairly sure you'd have more symptoms if it was ectopic. They say the bleeding would be dark and watery like prune juice.

I'm curious about this too because I'm going for another scan at 6 weeks 3 days and I'm hoping to see the heartbeat. I'd love to know my chances so I don't get my hopes up and then worry because I can't see it.

I had a (near) 6 week scan yesterday and we only saw a sac & yolk. No heart beat yet, so they scheduled me again in two weeks. I was in the ER on Saturday and was told it could be an ectopic, but yesterday with my actual doctor he said I was cleared of that possibility.

btw, some people are able to hear a heart beat by 6 wks so hopefully you can too. FX

Yeah I'm 4 days off six weeks and they only saw the gestational sac and yolk sac with me too. Of course you're cleared!!

the yolk sac is where the baby is growing so if its in the right place then so is your baby! congradulations!! I was thrilled to have ectopic ruled out as well

I have the same thing, at 6/7 weeks. I also had a shape pain on my left side and was rushed down for a scan.

They didn’t check for heartbeat all they did for me was check if everything was in the right place, they couldn’t see much, I had to drink lots of water and go in a 2rd one same day, and all I could see on the screen was a little black dot...well little but it stood out.

The midwife confirmed everything was in the right place and it was fine.

For me I think it was 1st time mum panic. But at least I knew everything was in the right place.

I had a similar situation. I went in for a scan at 4 weeks 2 days and they didn't see anything, I mean nothing. I went in for another scan which I should have been 6 weeks 2 days, but they put me back at 5 weeks 6 days. They saw everything and I got to hear the heartbeat; however my doctor did forwarn me that we might not see much at all. They expected only a gestational sac and maybe a yolk sac. Good luck and I hope the best for you!! Let us know how it goes

i went for a scan tuesday i was meant to be 7+3 but measured 5+6 fetal pole was 4.7 mm and sac and a beautiful fluttering hb dont worry all sounds pretty ok to me
