LOL! I have been surfing youtube, doing the exact same!! Looking up doppler videos for 8 weeks... and also ultrasounds according to the dates that I have them scheduled for.
I thought I caught a tiny bit of HB today on my sonoline b doppler. I read that if you have a full bladder it helps... it was just a few seconds, and it may not have been it at all.... but I don't expect to be able to pick it up good for a few weeks. I am actually probably wasting my time (and gel) trying... I ordered extra gel though!
I too heard that it's possible to find the heartbeat from around 8 weeks, so I bought mine early and was obsessing with it. I tried pretty often but didn't find it until I was 10 weeks along.
After that, for the next few tries, I found it pretty easily. But then I tried again at 13 and 14 weeks and it took me ages to find it, it was quite stressful. I'm really going to try to put it away and not obsess about it. It's reassuring to hear the heartbeat, but also really worrying when you can't find it.
Midwives don't usually check for the HB until at least 16 weeks for this reason - it's just too difficult to find it so early on. It's rare to find it at 8 weeks, baby is still far down in the pelvis. Dopplers cause too much worry IMO! if you must use one, wait a couple of weeks at least. x
I know you all are right, but, darnit, I was certain I'd be one of the lucky ones! It probably doesn't help that I have a tilted uterus and that means it probably won't come forward until I'm further along than most. I'd probably have more success trying to hear it through my back than through my abdomen
