Chronic Diarrhea - Natural Remedy Suggestions

Hey girls...it's been 2 weeks now and my diarrhea continues to worsen.

I am having blow outs 7-8 times a day. My upper butt crack is so raw my OBGYN prescribed me some cream for the inflammation. I am taking Imodium tabs once daily, I was given Metronidazole 500 MG today and will take the medication for 7 days x2 daily, and I will go in for blood work and a stool culture tomorrow.

I am miserable and scared to death, they checked the baby today and all is well....I will go in tomorrow for a more in depth ultrasound.

I have switched to Silk milk, I am eating probiotic yogurt (started today), and I've also tried the BRAT diet (does not work).

I wanted to know if any of you had any home remedies or maybe a suggestion that may harden my stools....anything, as long as it is safe for the baby.

Thanks

I have crohns, so that's something i'm used to dealing on a day to day basis. Eating really healthy helps. No cheese, milk, icecream... There is yogurt made out of soy milk that has live cultures in it as well. Bananas are good. Tomatoe based I try and stay away from and no spices. Yes my diet is so boring.. But it works. I cheat I'll admit it and def no coffee. Hope it helps. It's hard but it can be done. :-)

Aww you poor thing, sounds like you're having a difficult time. I had a terrible bout of the runs and sickness recently and I found that drinking honey dissolved in warm water really helped to ease my tummy and keep me hydrated. Honey's a natural healer (there is a proper word for it but can't think what it is) and the sweetness gave me energy. Hope that helps x

I have alot of bowel problems as well its awful and embarrasing i try to mantain a story to my hubby that not only do i not fart i do not poop as well. He does not believe me but goes along with it anyway. Mostly when i do have diarrhea i tell myself my body is getting rid of something that should not be there. On time though my dr gave me lomitil pills and they helped. I call them llama pills and they know what im talking about. I used to live in germany and most medical words sound much differant with an accent. People here always talk to me as if i knew hitler personally. ??

Pureed pumpkin is supposed to work wonders! I used to give it to my cat when he had the runs and it seemed to work.
Also boiled eggs are supposed to constipate!!!

Hi I'm new here, and I see this post fizzled out over a month ago. But I wanted to put in my .02. I'm all about natural therapy, having once worked for an acupuncturist and natural healer. Dried blueberries (from local healthfood store - unsweetened and organic, if possible) are excellent for quelling diarrhea naturally. Also, Dr. Mercola (fantastic website if you've never checked into it - soo much info it can be overwhelming) recommends a good acidophilus supplement. Maybe more effective than yogurts and probiotic drinks. I'm four weeks along, and "sliding into first" (if you know the lovely diarrhea song from the movie Parenthood - lol) every day for two weeks now. Getting tired of it. But living where we do, we don't have access to the marvelous acidophilus supps I used to get from the Vitamin Shoppe down the street from where we used to live...ahh the strange things I miss about the states...

I'd really love to know what the result of all your testing was, and if you've found the solution to your problem.
