And its completely stupid - I'm sure when I was little I got chicken pox first, got over it, then my brother got it next, think it took 2-3 weeks for his to show (and I was constantly hugging and kissing him, I loved him as a baby!!!)
Yep, my twins keep hugging and kissing their brother. Keep telling him to try to stay away from them as I don't think I could handle three sick children right now, but it's not working, so I'll expect they'll catch it soon too.
I bet normally its so lovely that they cuddle - they just want to make him feel better I bet. Cute, but worrying at the same time! 3 sick children....keeping my fingers crossed that they don't get it!

My immunity to chicken pox was routinely tested along with everything else they test for at my booking in appointment. Is it possible you were tested during a previous pregnancy and the results on file at hospital?

They check your varicella (chickenpox) titers at every first prenatal appointment as part of routine blood work. If you had low titers with your previous children, they would have told you to get a vaccine then. I bet you are ok.

I was under the impression that by the time there are visible blisters, it was past being contagious? At least that is what my uncle was told when his son had chicken pox at xmas. He is 11 months older than Thomas so they play a lot.

I hope you don't get it. My OH didn't until he was 25!

I just hope I've had it before and my mums just forgotten. I can't believe she can't remember, but I guess when you have six kids ( I'm the youngest) its hard to keep up with who's had what. Keep your fingers crossed for me. X

A friend of mine also had chicken pox while pregnant. To be honest, she was nto the most responsible of expecting mothers so she didn't take the best care of herself during pregnancy so I am guessing you've already done ten times more than she had. Anyway, her daughter came out just fine and is now 7 years old. Best of luck to you.

I don't know if I've ever had it (my mum can't remember) but I don't think so. Ive been reading up on it and I'm really scared that I'm going to catch it and that it'll affect my bean.

Just been to the doctor who has sent me for a blood test. If it comes back that I'm not immune, then i'll need to have a vaccination. What's worrying me is that he's told me that the blood results won't be ready for ten day! Then if I need the vaccination, it'll take another 7 days for me to get it as it has to be sent to the surgery from elsewhere! So if I'm not immune I won't know for another 10 days and won't be vaccinated until 17 days later!!! Surely it'll be too late by then! I questioned him about it and he said, noo you can't catch it that easily. Really??? I think I'm being patronised and fobbed off. In the meantime, me and baby are exposed to this virus that can be dangerous for the both of us. I don't really have a question, just looking for reasurence and wondering if anyone else has been on my situation and how has it turned out. I'm very concerned that something will go wrong
Sorry to hear you're going through this worry. I just had blood work done and the doctor said that I am not immune to German measles (even though I got the shot years ago). Sometimes immunizations just don't work. So I'm told to avoid kids or people who have rashes. I was really scared when I first found out. I don't think chicken pox is as dangerous as German measles though, so hopefully you can take comfort in that. I would pressure your doctor to hear your concern and to speed up the process somehow. Perhaps your partner can spend more time with your child until you finish the first trimester to play it safe?

I've been reading up and apparently the first trimester and the third trimester is when your most at risk if you get chic pox. In the first trimester the baby can develop abnormalities, so for the ladies that said they know ladies who had chic pox while pregnant and were fine, do you know if it was during the first trimester? I don't think i will be able to stop worrying till the results come back now.
