How far along are you? I see you are in (slash close) to Ipswich! We live in Ipswich too! This is my first as well and I am about 4weeks+6days! Fun to see another bump buddy so close by
Hi Tawn,

We are 6 weeks and 6 days today. When we get back, if I can figure out to private message you (if it is possible) would love to meet up!

I usually add lots of greens like kale, spinach, chard, etc. Then add colorful veggies like carrots, beets, broccoli (or whatever I have that isn't too strong of a flavor like peppers or onions) then I add a small apple or banana and a handful of frozen berries (they make the drink cold and cut the "earthy" flavor). It looks disgusting, like pond scum, but tastes good and goes down easy. Plus, it makes it easier to "go" within hours (sometimes minutes) of drinking it!!

Constipation has been a huge issue for me so far and getting raw, fresh vegetables first thing in the morning is incredibly helpful and *seems* to be better for your pregnancy than drinking coffee, taking stool softeners or laxatives. It's a little inconvenient, but I recommend trying it a few days a week and see if it helps. If you don't have an emulsifier or a juicer, try just doing fruit/veg smoothies in your blender with a little low-fat yogurt. Good luck!!
Thanks Heather,

I tried this for breakfast this morning, mine tasted disgusting though! But within two hours I finally managed to go for the first time in 3 days! Not sure if it was this or the fybogel. Will keep doing it though, feel much better!

Natural food without preservatives will help get your bowels moving. Coffee is just a diuretic and will soften your stools, but will not help your digestive flora and does not solve your actual problem, it will just make it dependable on it, so if you don't have coffee, you're back to square one.

Looks like what you are doing is helping you. Glad everything is better!

Prunes worked for me the other night, but since then they've done nothing but make gassy and bloated. I just got off the phone with the nurse at my OBGYN and she said to drink plenty of water, eat a lot of fruit (not just high fiber fruit like prunes) and said I could take Colace. In the long run, I'd like to try a more natural approach (eating foods that will help) but for tonight I am getting some colace. It's been over 3 days and I can't take it anymore!

I've always had trouble with my bowel movements. I take the fish oil with flax seed oil in it and it really helps alot. Also, you can try eating Kale. It is high in fiber.

Hi Monalissa, I was the same as you I coudn't take it anymore, but thanks to the advice of Heather1 and Flip flop, I am now going each day. Heather1s fruit and vegetable blended drinks are great, do follow her advice though and add banana and raspberry, this morning's was much nicer than my first attempt!!

Hope you get it moving again!

I am in the same boat and just bought "Lactulose" over the counter on advice from a pregnant friend of mine who got it prescribed by her GP. I looked at the leaflet as well and it says "safe to take in pregnancy". If nothing else helps I like to have a backup plan! lol

Thank you! I started the Colace Tuesday night and have since taken 5 pills total. It's helping but very, very slowly. I'm going to see if I can find a juicer for a reasonable price. I'd love to make fruit and veggie drinks! Glad you're feeling better too.

The colace finally worked it's magic after last night, 48 hours after taking my first dose. This morning I decided to start with the shakes using the liquify option on my blender. My stomach has been off since I drank it. I think on an empty stomach first thing in the AM is too much, which makes sense because I usually can't eat fruit first thing. I'll probably start drinking it at night.

My first one was....uhm...interesting. Mango, strawberries, 1 large kale leaf and frozen raspberries which kind overpowered the taste of everything else. It looked like sludge. LOL

I'll probably try these two recipes next (will probably add kale to the avocado one):

Thanks for the idea ladies!
