HB at 10 weeks??

Hi lovely first tri ladies!!

Question for any of you who may know or have experience with this. I have a dr appt next week at 10+2. Can a doppler detect the HB that early, and will she check for it do you think?? I want to tell work around 12 weeks, but was hoping to hear the heartbeat before doing that to make sure everything is ok.

Thanks!!

Hi Lisa, I just over 10 weeks and can hear my baby's heartbeat using an angel sounds Doppler. I don't know whether you are in the UK but usually UK midwives will not use a doppler until 16 weeks sometimes! If you can get an angel sounds, try to as I have found it really reassuring to hear the HB over the last few days. Xx

I've been hearing baby's HB on my home doppler since about 9+3, i'm 11+4 now. I'm not too sure if dr will listen for it that early though as there is a chance it won't be picked up, it depends on placenta positioning and where baby is lying, there are lots of hiding places at this stage. I know different areas are different about this but I know here my MW or Dr won't attempt until 16 weeks, hence i bought my own so I can have peace of mind anytime i need it

Good luck at your appointment though hun xxx

Thanks girls.

I thought about buying my own, but I know it would just scare me for no reason if I wasn't able to find it, so I decided against it. I really hope my dr checks though!

I had a doctors appointment last week at 10+4 and they refused to try to find the heartbeat with a doppler. I tried everything and they simply wouldn't do it. I was so mad I went home and bought a doppler online. I hope the outcome is different for you!

Thanks babynow. I have a feeling the same will happen at my appt. Its still early and I'm sure most dr's don't want to freak people out if they can't find it.

They probably won't listen for baby's HB until your 16weeks hun, that's standard in the UK anyway so not sure about the US
