I've been asked to repeat a urine test anyone know why this might be?

Hi this will hopefully be my second baby, after 3 m/c and 1 ectopic. I had my 12 week scan and have been asked to repeat my urine test, all the letter says is the dr (not the midwife) has reviewed my results and wants it repeated? I'm guessing protein or sugars. Anyone else have any experience? My dr's is closed at the mo so can't call and ask. Have left a message for midwife because I thought it strange the dr had requested it not here??

They might be looking for protein in your urine......

Probably protein, there can be a trace if any cells from your skin have gotten into the sample. Try to get a good midstream sample and remember to 'wipe and spread' before doing the wee (sorry if tmi but no one ever really tells you how you are supposed to do a wee sample to get the best results!)

Or it could be they detected a hint of infection, and want to check on it? Or maybe the first sample was contaminated? It could be any number of things, but I doubt it's anything to worry about

Like I said its usually contamination, but urine shows a lot of things. It can give you an early clue about infections, gestational diabetes, and kidney problems. Just repeat the sample, make it a good un, and it'll more than likely be nothing.

been so chilled out this time because it just feels right, I was the same with my little boy so calm and relaxed. Everything went so well with him after the nightmares we had getting to that stage, thought this one would be the same, right fingers crossed its just me rushing after my scan desperate for a wee and messed it up!!!!

Thanks - I had forgotten how much help this wonderful site can be. Good luck all.xx
