Heard HB on home doppler!!

I cannot believe it! I am 9 weeks and just found the fetal heartbeat on my doppler!

This is what I did:

I laid flat on my back in a silent, dim room, eyes closed and headphones full blast. Took a few long, deep breathes. I lubed that transducer up and patiently and SLOWLY moved the transducer around LOW on my abs. This part took about 5 minutes. I then tipped it slightly to the left and it started getting louder (like a windy day) and BAM!

*whoosh,whoosh,whoosh,whoosh*

It was incredible! I am elated, that was such an amazing sound! Ahhhh!!

I've been listening to mine every night it's amazing.
Now I find it in different spots so it causes some worry when it takes some time to find it.
It's so comforting

What was the bpm?

Isn't it? Lovely...

I guess I missed the boat on the digital monitors that show the BPM... Mine is made by Angel Sounds and does not have a monitor. When my OH gets home in just a few minutes I will have him count it out while I hold the transducer. :-)

How far along where you when you found the HB?

And I see you're a California girl too! Nice!

8 weeks, wow that is early!! Good for you! I haven't even TRIED to check it until today (that is a lie). I actually did try, but it was at around 6 weeks and I could only hear my food digest. LOL! So we just tried it again and measured the HR manually at about 150-170 BPM. Not bad!! My OH lit up like the 4th of July - it was precious!! xo

I live in Santa Cruz, but was born in San Diego. :-)

I was guna say are you sure its baby?? Because the whooshing sound I found is blood flow I pick up that sound quite quickly. It takes me a little while to find bubs! And it sounds like a train or a horse galloping really fast

I am so tempted to buy a doppler but am stopping myself, I'll end up taking myself to A&E if I can't find it in like 5 minutes. I have absolutely no patience and am liable to panic - I'd love to hear her/him though, if they're there...
must be very reassuring!

I heard mine on the angelsounds on Sunday at 9+2 but haven't found it again since. I'm not too worried as I know it can be hard to find it so early on.

Mine is driving me mad! I am pretty sure I heard it on Thurs and Sat but can't find it again now! Get a HB / Swooshing sound but think it is me / placenta as it doesn't sound fast enough? I don't have the LCD either which I am now massively regretting!

It is really starting to stress me out!! I have my 12 week scan next week and am petrified I won't have a HB!! Might buy one with an LCD this week instrad and go from there!

Wow I am already an obsessive mother!

Charlie Jo, I am having the same problem. I easily find the whooshing sound (me) but finding the little horses galloping noise is a lot more challenging. I don't let myself look every day so as not to drive myself crazy but it is hard to hold off.

There are some good YouTube demos on using the fetal doppler and distinguishing sounds.
