fast rising HCG levels and twins

hi everyone. I had a post on here recently because at my 7 week 3 day 2D ultrasound the trainee thought I had twins but then checked and decided there was only one. I was going to wait for my next ultrasound to find out for sure but I decided to look into my hcg levels.

At 4 weeks 3 days my HCG was 229. Almost exactly 3 days later (72 hours) it was well over 800 though I cant remember the exact amount. I was just relieved it was rising! Working it out I realised that if it doubled every 48 hours it would have been 458 on the 48th hour, then it would have been 687 on the third day (72nd hour) when I got my blood test so it seems like it was ALOT higher then it should have been. Did I work this out ok? Do you think this could mean twins? I know no one could tell for sure but I'd like to know what you think/ your experience. Is it normal to rise much faster the doubling every 48 hours or did I work it out wrong?

My doctor didn't mention it but she doesn't have any experience in pre-natal and types my questions into Web M.D lol

Peoples HCG levels go up at different rates.. When i was pregnant with twins at 6 weeks my HCG was 2500 that was it.. I didnt have a blood test after that but I dont think high HCG levels nessarily mean twins. I had no idea I was pregnant with twins... until I had an ultrasound.. I would think at the ultrasound they wouldnt miss a twin mine were clear as day.

Everyones levels rise at different rates. I've seen so many threads on here about this and it very rarely turns out to be twins x

Actualy I was refering to the doubling speed, not the level itself As in if it doubles faster then it's supposed to could that indicate twins? Also I'm a twin and I was hidden behind my sister untill 25 weeks! My heartbeat also echoed hers Are your twins identical? I know if they aren't they are always visible early as they are in 2 different sacks but identical twins can easily be hidden behind one another. Especialy in a 2D ultrasound. Plus it was the technician that put the idea in my head I hope it is twins because I have the best relationship with my sister and I'd love for my children to have that. Congradulations on having twice the joy!!

No my twins were faternal but I sadly lost one at 9 weeks.... Identical twins dont run in familys only faternal.. identical twins are just flukes that happen, like I said that everyones HCG triples or doubles in there pace everyone is different

yeah I know identical twins aren't genetic which is why I didn't mention it in my original post I've done some googling and you're right, HCG levels all rise at different rates. I'm just hoping it's a good sign!! I'm very sorry about your loss congradulations about your other baby
