Feeling sick / loss of appetite

Im feeling so sick recently, i've been sick a few times since finding out I was pregnant.. one of those times being earlier this evening. I've also completely lost my appetite.. eating seems like a chore and anything I chew is making me feel like gagging. I had to refuse dinner (roast) earlier because the thought of gravy being poured over roast potatoes and veg made me feel so ill - so strange as I usually love a roast lol. We got Dominos pizza which I fancied, but after a few bites of the pizza I felt ill.. yet made myself eat it.

I remember feeling ill in my last pregnancy, but nothing like this. This is ruining every day, I feel sick sick sick all day long and it's actually getting me down (may sound a bit dramatic, but it's too much).

Any advice etc??? do you think the doctor can prescribe me something? i've heard of anti-sickness tablets but not sure how bad you have to be..

Thanks

Sounds like you might be having a boy! Old wives tale, I think, but everyone I know who's had multiple kids were more sick for one gender than the other.

Sorry, I'm no help. I just had to say that!

I hope you feel better soon! It's just a matter of time before the MS passes, at least for a little while.

Thanks. Im not sure how long I can cope with this, if I was sick it might actually help but I just seem to be gagging today.. i've had to force feed myself this morning, as I just don't fancy anything to eat. I've spent the whole of this morning with a plastic bag next to me and Bethanie gets a bit scared when I am being sick. Random things are making me feel ill too, smells, bethanie's nappies etc..

Do you reckon the doctor can give me something?

I can sympathise with you too. I am nearly 14 weeks and my symptoms of feeling sick and loss of appetite are exactly the same as you, the only thing I can really eat is jelly or sweet things. I love my food well did love my food and now I can't stand it.
My predictions is that its a boy, I never had anything like this when I was pregnant with my daughter 16 years ago. I am that bad I have been signed off work too.

Will it disappear.........who knows.

Good luck......

xx

hi there hun, i know exactly how ur feeling i have a little thing u can eat tat really helped me take the nausea away it was ginger biscuits, dnt like them much but the ginger works wonders, i was hospitalised in my last pregnancy with hypremesis (servere morning sickness) and stayed there for a week as i collapsed with dehydtartion and nearly lost my daughter but i went in just in time, the sent me home with anti-sickness pills which i am sorry but docs do not give them out for just nausea or sickness u have to be admitted and classed as real bad for them as they not bad for baby like the pills years ago but they dont like any woman taking pills when preg, i was on them for 4 months then the sickness stopped and i never had them anymore, all i have to say babe is if it gets to the extent where u cant hold anything down even water go straight to a&e as if it is hypremesis it is very dangerous for both mother and baby, just hoping this little bean dont send me bk in there but now i know what to look for.
i was also real good with my first baby and he was a boy a bit sick but nothing to moan about but my daughter ssssooooo different so i do think the sex of baby has something to do with it, im slightly nauseous with this bean but nothing mayjor as i was already addmitted at 5 weeks last time so hopeing it the boy i want.....THINKING BLUE fingers crossed ladies x x x x hope that helped babe honest try the ginger biscuits they work wonders for sickness x x x x

Hi Tilly

I fully understand how you are feeling. When i turned 7 weeks, my sickness started and i couldn't keep water down. The doc didn't want me to go into hospital to be put on a drip if i could avoid it. i was prescribed Avomine by a locum doctor bu the pharmacist told me that they had only ever been tested on pregnant animals!!!

I kept going back and in the end my main doc prescribed me these tablets that you only put the little tablet between your upper lip and gum. The box says 3 tablets a day, but doc advised take then only when you are really bad. They do make you a bit drowsy, but certainly help.

If you want the name let me know I'll pm you.

Another thing that helps me is (bless my mum who is here helping - we live two hours away - and gave me this idea) keep a little pot next to where you are sick (ie bathroom) with a mixture of salt and pepper. once you feel sick or have been sick take a little pinch and place it on your tongue. Sounds odd but it gets rid of the sick taste/feeling.

Hth

Thank you everyone, some great advice.

Feeling a bit better since i've been force feeding myself. Also my boyfriend has been bringing me up a juice and a few biscuits every morning before I get up.

Will let you know if it improves!!
